Sometimes I found western people being confused when someone refers to themselves by their name (third person view). I'm sorry if I'm guessing wrong and it's a common thing in the west but I'll just explain this to avoid any confusion. As far as I know in Japan (and my country too, both in the east), referring to yourself by your name is a childish thing.

Background story:
For Hikage Kaede, the girl named Hoshimori Kazuki is an enigma. The black-haired beauty usually referred by other students of Kawakami High School as 'The Mysterious Cool Beauty' as she's really... mysterious! And cool. She has this adult aura surrounding her, she has a refined way of speech... which made people confused sometimes. The mysterious part comes when others realize nobody knows much about her personal life. She doesn't have a close friend. Nobody knows about her family and such. Sometimes she talks gibberish, nobody really understand what was she talking about. Prophecies? Myths? or just nonsense? Even when surrounded by people who admired her, Hoshimori always stood alone--at least that's how Hikage perceives her from afar.

When Hikage realized, it was the time for second years' school trip. In this tropical island, Hikage spent his time playing with his friends. Amidst the laughter and enjoyment, sometimes the image of Hoshimori walking around the island alone flashed in his mind. This thing kept bugging him and made Hikage so annoyed that he decided to go back to the hotel. He didn't listen to his friend's protests and walked away. It was out of his prediction that he saw the familiar jet-black hair on the corner of his eyes. It was Hoshimori, and she was alone walking towards the far out corner of the island. Curious, Hikage followed her to a rather rocky beach, and little did he know that he's heading towards an absolute darkness...

So she's actually a scaredy cat inside of her cool and calm exterior?

In western movies it's usually the villain talking of himself in third person as it seems like pretending to be more than you truly are. However I've also being long enough on the internet to learn about the eastern culture =D

As far as I can tell, here in the west, people referring to themselves in third person view is seen as a sign of either being stupid/not having a good grasp on English, or being mysterious/alien/etc. It's not commonly done outside of fiction.

I see. I noticed a lot of them in anime or Japanese games and usually the ones that use it are the loli/cute/airheaded type of characters. My big brother uses it when he's talking to my parents because it's kind of a habit since he was a kid... lol. Thanks for the info!
