hey, i'm really interested in your home made soft surround filter, can you tell me how did you created it? :)

i explained that to someone else the other day, let me see if i can find my response........ here it is (you don't mind if i copy and paste do you? :D):
i made my soft focus filter by cutting a strip of black matboard paper long enough to go around the lens (and overlap a little) .
make the strip as long as the lens(=the width of it i mean).
fold it around the lens and tape the ends together; don't make it too snug because you want it to be fairly easy to take on and off.
for the soft focus filter i've used a clear plastic bag (like a ziplock bag), but any clear plastic that is reasonably hard will do.
make a circle to fit on one of the ends of the strip (use the taped strip as a tracer so you can get the exact size of the circle), cut any preferred hole in the middle of this circle of the plastic and tape the circle on to the strip of mat board paper, covering one of the ends of it... and boom! there's your soft focus filter!

on this particular image :above: i've also used a home made splitzer; you make that the same way, but instead of taping clear plastic over one end of the black strip, use the same matboard paper to make a circle to cover one end of the strip, and make a "splitzer" hole in it. example of a store bought splitzer can be seen here: [link]
as you can see you can make 1/2 splitzers, 3/4 splitzers, or make them the same way as the soft surround filter (using black paper of course)... the sky is the limit when you're making a splitzer.
it's really, really easy to make both of these filters :aww:

oh.. i didn't knew that my English is so poor to understand this one))) maybe if it is not hard for you, can you drop me the picture of this filter because it will be faster for me to understand about that black mathboard paper you said about, but in general i understood your idea. thanks for sharing this useful information!

a matboard paper is just a hard piece of paper; harder than regular paper, but not as hard as cardboard.
i'll see if i can show you a picture of it tomorrow; i'm not at home now so i can't get to them but i'll try to take a picture of it tomorrow and i'll show it to you :aww:

Amerikanska kaveldun...
