I grew up "assigned male at birth" and was subsequently raised (and expected) to be a man.
Among the plethora of inhumane conditioning, this meant crying was a show of weakness, to be avoided at all cost.

A lot of people (not just men) suffer from this brutal form of behavior modification.
Very often anger becomes the only safe outlet for people to express their pain/sadness and—yep—that was me for a long time.
I still find it very difficult to "let it out" but when it happens it's such a relief.
Never not cathartic.
Either way I'm really lucky to have the partner I do. <3
