The Price by JeyBarnes The Price by JeyBarnes
I've tried on at least a dozen different titles for this but they all seemed either pretentious or redundant. I'll keep thinking about it and update when/if I have that eureka moment.

Other than that, uh. . . I'm not sure what to say. Going through some stuff. But questions and comments are welcome if you have them. I'd sorta like to know what you guys read off of this.

EDIT: I think it is called The Price. I'll keep listening in case it has anything else to tell me.

Mind if I use this on a poem? I make no money off it, and I give full credit to you for the artwork. If you'd like proof of the credit: [link]

I've thought about it for a couple of days, and I'd prefer if you didn't use my drawing. I appreciate you letting me know and not using it for profit or anything, but it's a rather personal piece. Sorry. Thanks for telling me, and I wish you luck in your writing!

No problem! Photo will be changed asap, and I do understand that a drawing could be personal. If anything, I should be the one apologizing for having used it without prior permission. Best of wishes to you, and your future!

It's really pretty.
For some reason, the floating makes me think of the anime Elfen Lied. What, with the pink-ish hair and the extra arms. Just sayin'.

I really like it!

This is what happens when a lung dweller falls in love with a human. As the seated woman (I'm calling her a woman) confesses her feelings, the muse's mutual affection sparks loving embrace—but the human's lack of chest-holes and thick, rubbery skin turns her otherworldly lover's passionate into a tragic deathblow: seconds into their first and final kiss, the creature finds its human to have stopped responding; the numbing coital caress of mucous tendrils shot from gills that line its own flexible ribcage seem to have all but dissolved the human's own.

Wow... and you did this with markers only? It's so profound! :wow:

:+fav: :+favlove:

Besides the art, it's already amazing how someone can even come up with something so emotional, meaningful and deep! I'm speechless.

Prometheus has been living among us as a girl, for thousands of years. She has a pretty normal life: works at Blockbuster, plays xBox, has a weakness for Cocoa Puff, etc. Sometimes she even forgets for a time who she is, what she did.

She is normal in every way.

Except that at the end of every day, just before midnight, she sits on the edge of her bed and waits for that goddamn whateveritis to come and eat her liver so she can get it over with and go to sleep.

Sometimes it's late, and it pisses her off. I mean, what are you gonna do? Complain?

So she sits, waiting. Tapping her goot impatiently. And just as she glances at her wristwatch for the umpteenth time -- it comes.

And once again she is surprised, despite herself.

Or, I dunno. It's her soul running away to audition for cirque du soleil, and grabbing whatever organs it can on the way out.

So long, sucker!

In any case, I find myself fixated on the scrap of black fabric and/or strap on her arm.

I find it funny that everyone seems to think the muse is leaving and pulling something away with it. Not what I get out of this-- rather, it seems to me that the muse is reconstructing, pulling out the old, but with the intention of building things back up again. Maybe this's just because I know that feeling and want to relate to it. But also, it's not a hopeless picture-- and the muse's pose is very reconstructive--he doesn't look like he's just gonna leave.

I love your more emotional/portrayal of something important to you artworks you do. I felt when I saw this, that your muse/soul (is there a difference? I think they're one in the same) was being pulled apart from you by something you have no control over, but your soul/muse is holding you, as if to tell you even though things get bad, or confusing, or whatever the tribulation may be, you will always be yourself, and you can always look inside yourself for inspiration (or a lot of times frustration). It also seems when I looked at this that even when or if you feel alone, you always have your inspirations and your ideas, if nothing else, to cling to. (Sorry that sounded so cheesy but that's the only way I could possibly try to put what I think about your picture into words).

I really like this. It has a creepy and bittersweet vibe to it. It looks like its all underwater, because of the colors and all. The Muse really looks like it's being pulled away from you, but is taking part of you with it.

And the ribcage is really creepy. Just sayin'.

It's very touching. It seems to me like your (I'm guessing it's you) soul is being ripped out. It obviously doesn't want to go away though. Some sort of emotional struggle.
Hope whatever it is, works out. :)

It seems to me like the floating person is made out of the flesh from the other guy's torso, so it's a part of him, whatever else it is. Perhaps it's significant that the floater contains the boy's heart?

"His guts are escaping" I really like! Metaphorically it kind of fits.

Thanks a lot, Deens. It feels strangely complimentary to be told that you like it in spite of not being able to tell exactly what's "happening." :)

Wow. This is really eerie. It's powerful though and you've drawn and colored it extremely well. I don't know what it means, but I like the fact that it is so emotional. Many artists I watch here, although their skills are stupendously awesome, their work has no emotional depth to it, other than, "Here is a well drawn picture/character design". This looks like something that sprang from the psyche.

This is like the plot to Kingdom Hearts except 100% less confusing.

The muse is drifting away and taking part of you with it. You're all "WTF?" and it's trying to hold on. Also residual moving head images, though unclear if they are in the time before or after this particular moment.

"Exorcism" seems to fit as a title, though here it takes on a slight sarcastic/ironic connotation.

Your muse pics always get me .__.

It looks to me like he is being pulled away from you (you, yes?), not entirely voluntarily, but not fighting it either. I don't know. The way you've covered the faces makes it seem sort of bittersweet, and the whole thing looks almost underwater-ish to me, which makes it somewhat... calming. I don't know how to explain it, but if I'm anywhere close to what you intended, then I've sort of felt this before.

...am I overanalyzing? :/

Yeah, the seated person is me. I really like that you and a few other people are getting an underwatery vibe from this--it wasn't consciously intentional but I noticed it too when I was done and I think it fits. I didn't mean for it to look like the Muse is being pulled away but I can certainly see that because of the pose shape and all the diagonal lines.

You are not overanalyzing! Thank you very much.

It looks like the more abstract, spirit-y thing, has sort of ripped itself free from the other person, and is possibly leaving them.

at least that's what I get from it. Its a very beautiful piece anyway.

Wow, this is quite beautifull. I also like the small detials like the woman is elegantly wearing a jelly fish on her head and how it looks like it's a part of her, along with many other things.

To me it looks like a sea angle is blessing the soul of a man who has died at sea.

Thanks a bunch, Cally. Don't be afraid to throw some guesses out there if you feel like it. I mean think of it this way: if you're "off" then it's more likely that I'm the one who messed up in communicating something. I promise not to pelt you with moldy apricots.
Probably. ;)
