Dean had decided to cook up some scrambled eggs, thinking Sam could cut up a chunk and eat it like that. He thought about making bacon too, but he realized it might be too hard for a tiny mouth like Sam's to chew. Instead, he microwaved a few sausage links that he had in the freezer. He let them cool down a bit before cutting off a tiny section to put on Sam's plate with the chunk of egg. Next, he grabbed a tiny cup and attempted to fill it with a drop of orange juice. But he ended up spilling it a few times before he got the drops in the cup. After cleaning up the mess, Dean carefully brou
Sam slept deeply that night, drifting off to sleep soon after his head hit the bed. The stress of the day before had taken it out of him, and he easily relaxed under the covers. The soft mattress was a stark contrast to the stiff and uncomfortable bedding in the pet store. His body still ached from the days of being curled up in the corner of the cage, tense as he watched the customers passing by anxiously. So it was no small relief for the cushioning, helping his body readjust to a more natural state.
He slept so deeply, he didn't have any nightmares like usual. The ones of fire and panic, blazing heat and helplessness... They had plagued h
Dean’s POV

The drive back to Bobby’s felt like a tense silence. He had so many questions in his head that needed answering. Can the guy talk? Where does he come from? Does he have a name?
But first things first...
Dean stopped by the garage to drop off the dog food, saying goodnight to Bobby and that he had some stuff to take care of before he could finish his work. Since they were good friends, Bobby had let him slide, knowing better than to pry into anything. Dean wanted to tell Bobby about what he just bought, but it just didn’t feel right yet. He didn’t want to o
Dean wiped his hands of the oil and grease on a nearby rag. Sitting back on his stool and admiring his handiwork. He was working on a tune-up for a client at the garage that evening, Bobby’s Garage to be exact. He worked there for many years, learning his skills from Bobby himself.
“Dean!”
Speak of the devil, the old man came in from around a corner, holding some papers.
“Yeah?” Dean asked, as he finished getting as much grime off his hands as he could.
“Got my hands full with some paperwork tonight, need to get it done by tomorrow.” Bobby said. “Mind picking me up some dog food for Rumsfeld

CHAPTER 13: Borrower On Board Stan took the candid conversation as a signal that it was safe to come out, now that they were clearly in the car with Dean again. The little guy pulled himself to his feet, tugging at the top of the pocket so he could peek out without dangling on tiptoe just yet. He let the humans carry on talking overhead, eyes widening as he found himself high enough to see out the windows of the car. The world looked so big and bright, passing by at speeds Stan could hardly comprehend. Trees and houses taller than any human would ever be, all blurred as Dean guided his vehicle down a long strip of road. It was mesmerizing and quite disorienting for Stan, but he could hardly look away. Dean frowned in contemplation of Sam’s revelation, deep lines etched into his face that gave him a more intense look that he meant to have. “Borrowers…” he said, trying out the word. “Not quite a leprechaun, but definitely on the shorter side of the supernatural.” Reminded, Dean
Ah, what a year it's been! I certainly never intended it to take this long to announce the winners, but here we are. It's been an adventure already, and hopefully the second half of the year is much calmer. My fingers are crossed for it, anyway. As it so happens, there will be no poll this year! Neon pulled her entry out of consideration, which leaves us with three entrants and three prizes! I had an excellent time reading and reviewing them all, and so... The grand winner for the 2022 Brothers Apart contest is..... @Jetx43682! Their artwork perfectly captures Sam and Dean throwing a little celebration after the hunt! Just a casual moment between the brothers, caught for all of us to enjoy! bellalocawherehaveyoubeen and Misha_McCarthy will be getting the second place prizes. There are no words for how haunting the story On the Shorter Side comes across, with Dean trying to find his place in a giant world. And of course the artwork of Bowman shows his attitude about getting caught
