I started this piece for ConceptArt.org CHOW #158 (May 2009!) but I wasn't able to get it done within the week. The theme hit on a bajillion things I really like, so I kind of never let it go - I ended up pulling up the PSD about once or twice a year since then, working on it for a few days before losing steam again. I'm much happier with how the illustration evolved since the beginning, and I like to think we learned and grew alot together, she and I...
I was excited to redesign her clothes when I got a copy of the Kyoto Institute of Costume Fashion book a few years ago. And I wanted my fairy-genie to look like the transition absinthe goes through, from translucent green to creamy and cloudy.

Hhaha, i completly understand the struggle xD I also have some old illustrations on my drive, that i started years ago, and still want to have them done
This artwork of yours is amazing, totally worth the time and effort you put into it!
This fairy looks to me more like a Genie - which is awesome, cos i almost never see Genie females!

This is amazing! I have been following your progress with this piece, and it's turned out great! Love the costume design, and all the different textures in the outfit.
You are the best of the best!
Will your art pieces ever be available as prints? More specifically this one, Bathory, Lucrezia, Disney princesses, etc.
