Black Mists of Woe: Episode 25 Return of the man Bull! My name is Elias Whately. I am a student at mysterious Woe University, trapped in a midnight sacrifice with myself as the victim! In warmer sunny days, the lacrosse fields of Woe bring cheering crowds enthusiastically shouting Woe Wraith slogans! Enthusiasm for the state's top Lacrosse team! "Wraiths gonna Get YOU!" the cry went up and the everyone was enthusiastically happy. But oh how different the war chant sounded on that night on the misty moonlit lacrosse fields, surrounded as I was by a cowled crowd of menacing figures. "Wraiths gonna GET YOU!" Hissed the red woman with fangs; and she approached me slowly laughing and the jeering crowd followed at her heels. I backed into corner and realized they had boxed me in front of a make shift altar! Clipped grass.. it was the Lacrosse fields! And I now knew who my captors were. It was the Senior Lacrosse team of the Woe College Wraiths. Brutal vicious jocks and I was their plaything. Black Mists of Woe: Episode 23 Unexpected encounters!   My name is Elias Whately; a freshman at cursed Woe College; a gothic university devoted to researching the Occult.  I have been accepted to the School of Esoteric Astronomy to study the mocking stars who whisper my name. But the burden I carry to study at august yet sinister Woe College is thus: I must mingle with my fellow freshman at an annual ‘Freshman Social’. And this is where I currently found myself; on a dance floor surrounded by gyrating drunken fellow students; all cavorting to an ear splitting cacophony from a punk band called the Jitters.  Their current ballad was called: Spider Girl.  Its lyrics ran: I’m in your web, babe. You’re my spider girl. Purple headed Sally had really begun to pursue me and each time they sang Spider Girl, She screamed “I got you in my web!” and tried drunkenly to grab me. I was helpless in her onslaught.  I looked wildly around for Mort to save me; but my great huge friend was drinking too

Black Mists of Woe: Episode 22 Meet the Wraths!   My name is Elias Whately, I am a new freshman studying esoteric astronomy at cursed Woe College of the occult; and I found myself forced to attend a student festival: the annual Freshman Social. This proved to be a cacophonous drunken party with no adults and a hundred freshmen experiencing alcohol and college for the first time. Free eats and free booze brought many other students; sophomores and even seniors as well.   I was crushed by the press of college humanity around me; as Mort and I fought valiantly to a buffet table groaning with food across the far side of the crowded ballroom. I dived around scantily clad sorority girls in cowboy boots gyrating with emaciated punk rockers. Behind them I could glimpse a delicious food table surrounded by hungry and surly seniors. These were older towering youths in menacing Wraith jerseys. And I had a premonition of terror.  Mort yelled encouragement, “Hold on bro! I see they got shrimp!

Black Mists of Woe: Episode 21 the Freshman Social   The spectral mists that rise up at dusk from the raging Woe river, envelop the Woe campus like a silent curse; blocking all light and reason and sanity. On this night the black mists of Woe were growing thicker; covering the college quad and diffusing its well lit square into a foggy haze. The hazy cloud found us struggling to the Freshman Social; held in the Thaddeus J Woe student union - a Victorian edifice with odd copulas and flying buttresses. The ivy covered citadel seemed as if myriads of ghosts peeked out the gabled windows; as we slowly climbed the marble palatial stairs and went in out of the black mists of Woe into a well lit, crowded and noisy ballroom.  My name is Elias Whately, a freshman at fearful Woe College; a century old school devoted to the Occult sciences. Black Mists of Woe: Halloween Interlude  A gigantic orange moon rose Halloween over sinister Woe College, silhouetting it blackly as if this infamous college menaced all light and life in the valley below.  Already black mists from the raging Woe River emerged to cover the moonlit valley like shroud. Halloween night was not cheerful in Woe town, few trick or treaters ever dared the damp cold mists. And there were few decorations displayed on shops or houses. The atmosphere was already ghostly enough. Woe was such an ill favored town; even a cheerful festival of a pumpkin carnival could not penetrate its gloom,  Folks said the land was cursed by demonic rites that the previous inhabitants had practiced; indians known as the Nakarasak cannibals. Their unspeakable rites included a horrific version of lacrosse involving the use of human heads. The rituals were so dark and evil that sorcery had contacted spirits in the land of the dead. Black Mists of Woe: Episode 20    My name is Elias Whately, a student at ill favored Woe College; a study center and purveyor of Occult Knowledge. And on this day myself and a hapless comrade were deep in the intellectual pursuit of choosing our college courses for the oncoming Fall semester. My friend Mort had sat for over 30 minutes sighing, moaning and eating french fries; as he tried to find a class worthy of his academic acumen. “Aren’t there any classes on the X-Men?” Mort asked. “Dude, I know more about them than anything!”    Medea my witch friend laughed at him. Her raven dark hair cascaded around her pale face like wings; and her sparkling gray eyes flashed with amusement. ”You boys should take the class I teach.” She took the Woe College course guide and underlined a basic studies course with an orange highlighter: “Survey of North Eastern Witchery” it read. “It’s a look at the rise of the witch cult in Arkham and points west!” The witch said proudly.   “I thought you were

Black Mists of Woe: Episode 19 Return of Mort.  My name is Elias Whately, a young freshman just beginning my esoteric academic studies at haunted Woe College. Obsessed by secrets of starry wisdom in my teens, I had read forbidden tomes on the outer spheres and I could hear the stars call me from my bed at night! I felt obsessed to study at Woe College (renowned for its occult studies in my state) and from high school I sought entry feverishly in my quest to observe and dominate the infinite unknown.  I was not alone in my wish to join Woe college; my pal Mort from high school also sought a scholarship at Woe. But he wanted to play lacrosse; indeed his skill was almost supernatural. Woe College has the NE Lacrosse Conference’s best college team “the Woe Wraiths”. Mort whose academic standards were suspiciously low (and tied to anime); was still welcomed with open arms to Woe as an aspiring Lacrosse champion for the Woe Wraiths. Black Mists of Woe: episode 18: the lost Battalion.  My name is Elias Whately, and I am a freshman at Woe College; a haunted university devoted to studying the occult arts. Old mysteries can hide anywhere in Woe College; even in the midday scramble of a busy student café called ‘The Widow’s Kettle’. And I found myself the hapless witness to such a cursed tale, trapped next to Medea; my beautiful witch friend; as she sat next to me and pinned me in the lunch booth.  Medea was gazing enraptured into the tanned healthy face of a blond juggernaut named Drew Parker. His square jaw, glowing white teeth, startling blue eyes and wavy blond hair were set by the striking cadet uniform of black and green (Woe Colors). He was the captain of the Woe ROTC Cadets. I loathed him and I felt stabs of jealousy which Medea did NOT notice.  “So Elias, would you like to join the Woe ROTC cadets?” Parker looked squarely into my face with a manly grin. Black mists of Woe Chapter 17: The Widow’s Kettle   My name is Elias Whately. I am a solitary scholar in starry wisdom at enigmatic Woe College; an occult university devoted to Spiritualism and other arcane arts. And currently I was arm in arm with a beautiful witch named Medea; both us entering in a steamy mid morning cafe from a frosty college quad. The effect was warming and welcoming.   It was crowded, crammed full of students, noise, and smells. There were faded posters on the walls advertising long extinct brands of sodas and hotdogs; a dozen stained plastic tables and sagging booths- all decrepit furnishings hailing back from decades past. And of course the purple green and black of the Woe Wraiths and the wraith emblem itself was proudly displayed all over the walls. The air reverberated with clattering dishes, the loud conversations of many diners and a lone juke box plying slow, discordant jazz. The place was ill it and smelt of pop corn, fried grease and school spirit.
