Red Falls by jerryhazard Red Falls by jerryhazard
Somewhere between Durango and Molas Pass, off the side of the road. The water was indeed red, as it had just rained and it was full of minerals and all that good mountain stuff....

about 2/3 of the way to molas pass from Durango - it will be on your left side as you're curing right - a passenger in your car will probably see the stream coming out the other side. YOu have to to sort of hike back a little bit to get there, but it's nothing rough. :peace: thanks!

;) well, I don't know about all that, but I'm glad you like it!

This place continues to blow my mind, the term beautiful somewhat shortchanges it, but then, this area is not something to be described, it needs to be experienced - so glad I moved here.

-- except for the fact that there's 4 feet of snow in the front yard right now, and seems to be getting deeper by the hour.... ;)

Thanks for stopping by!

I guess I should quit complaining about my 1 foot of white stuff then! ;)

Have a great day!

;) 1 foot? well, it's all relative. the 4 we're dealing with is insane to me, but the "natives" are taking it in stride. :peace:

Taking it in stride means strapping on the skis, I assume...;)

Take back my 1 foot BTW...the temps have been over 32 all day and now we are reduced to about half of that in a discusting slushy mix.

Take care! :)

The water is so stunning that I have a right mind NoT to believe you (that its not digitally manipped....) haha

No really, it's just breathtaking. u sure u didnt enhance the red? it's so vivid...in fact everything is vivid, even the trees, they're unusually green. :)

:) thank you... really. I did up the saturation across the entire photo - however, the red was actually quite more intense.. I don't think the camera could capture the luminosity... It was that sort of "after rain" lighting, where everything is super saturated, and sun was beaming from between clouds off and on.. when it was on - there is nothing I can compare the way water looked, I have never seen anything like it..

sorry for the late, and long winded response, just mean to say thanks! :peace:

Oh yeah, i know wat u mean. that kind of light immediately after the rain, when everything is sorta golden - especially if the sun comes out at just the right moment. i love it, i always feel so serene & glad to be alive when that happens.

That is very good timing to get that effect, one not many humans get to see very often. I didn't actually know such a thing could happen. I like it when I learn something new.

I had never seen a river run with such color before I moved out here. In town, the river is usually clear, even after a "normal" rain. But when we have a torrential downpour, it drags up all the sediment, and it totally looks like the Willy Wonka river ;)
