In the Season One episode entitled, "Fire Made Flesh," my assignment was to design a couple of baby Nathan Summers' nursery items as they are turned into nightmarish monsters. Working from the storyboards, I took on this spooky challenge. For the teddy bear transformation into a monstrous Professor Xavier, I needed to illustrate four essential stages. In my mind, I drew inspiration from the Boggart transformations in the film HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN (2004), with that sort of unsettling tornado-twist effect. Rather than burdening the Prop Designers, I designed a little rocking chair for the teddy, morphing it into a very crude and creepy version of Xavier's wheelchair. Here, I've thrown in my own shadow treatments to push the scary atmosphere.
