ULTRAVERSE: SLAYER

Malibu Comics Character Design, SLAYER, co-created by Dan Danko, and yours truly, JKMoore.

The idea behind Slayer's design was for his costume to be very "homemade" and shabby, with plenty of sloppy stitching, shredded cloth, tattered fringes, and grime. All of his gear was to be clearly "store-bought," perhaps customized in the most rudimentary fashion, and strapped or taped onto his body.

I cannot recall if this artwork was ever published. But as concept drawings go, I think it was a bit more elaborate than is usual. I decided to color it up in Photoshop as an exercise, long after the fact. I hope you like it. And thanks for viewing!

As some one who has some Ultraverse comics, I can say that while the style of the character is in line with some of the characters in Malibu comics, I don't think I've actually seen him in the pages of any of the Ultraverse line.

Homemade actually suits this character well!

His outfit doesn't really throw a "homemade" aspect at you. The mask perhaps when seen up close. But the rest looks quite professionally bought and made, albeit crudely done.

He looks more like Robin Hood with a modern twist. Love the concept though!

Thanks.

I said that the outfit is very homemade, but that his gear is store-bought.
By 'homemade,' I don't mean to imply that he fabricated his own costume from scratch, but that he cobbled most of it together without a view towards having everything match tastefully.  He simply grabbed what he felt was necessary.

Great job! Reminds me of wildc.a.t.s's grifter
