w00t!  It's been a long time since I've updated or even checked up on my Deviantart page.  I've been busy finishing off my PhD thesis (sorry, not a good excuse, I know!), but I'm finally done, so fingers cross I don't continue to neglect it.  I've been a bit of a traitor, spending more time on my flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mike_chong/ but hopefully I can be forgiven :P. I just returned from a 5 week overseas trip, which included Malaysia, the USA (San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle) and China (Guangzhou, Wuhan, Fushan).  I will slowly put up images from my travels as I get around to processing them :).

This morning I received a phone call from my Mum... my Grandpa had just passed... It wasn't entirely unexpected... he had been in really bad shape this past few weeks.  But still... when the time comes, its hard. I didn't know how I felt or how I should have felt.  I was just in a daze most of the day. "Should I cry?" I asked myself.  I didn't... I felt like I should have, but I didn't.  Is this the 'denial' stage of the mourning process, like I learnt in school?  I wasn't sure, but it still hadn't sunk in.  My Grandpa was miles away and I hadn't seen him in over a year. I continued the rest of the day with the same strange dazed state.
