This is a great piece. I remember reading this story a lot as a kid. I can never remember the name of it though.

I'm not entirely sure what the name of the story is, but the main character, at least in the version I was involved with, was Nuliajuk I think. Glad you like it!

Thanks! I'll start looking for it. I just remembered a version called Sedna or something like that (but I'm not actually sure if that's the right name).

That does sound right! There are several versions I believe.

True. I'll have to try to track down some of the books my mom read to me as a kid--I was lucky to have a parent who let me choose more than Cinderella (and it's 1000+ variants) for bed-time stories--it's surprisingly hard to find non-Germanic folk-tales and myths. It's sad too. I love the Brothers Grimm but there is significantly more out there.

I recently read this myth, so now I can see how gorgeous this is, rather than just seeing the grossness. Great job!

I guess so, it's "metal" as in "heavy metal"

or, put in other words, I really liked this piece a lot :D
(should have just said that from the start n_n'')

Well, I'm not sure of the name, because the name of the character in the project I did was Nuliajuk. But otherwise, thanks!

well there seems to be various versions of her tale, I know her as Sedna (fingers being chopped off and turning to various sea mammals) but she could be known as Nuliajuk, various tribes = various names.

That makes sense. There do seem to be quite a few different tribes as well.

That's gorgeous! Looks like it should be in a comic. I really like how parts of the hair are swirly, and the marks on his body are cool. Very awesome! :)

I like the feathering on the highlights. It's a cool technique, and I don't think I've seen anyone else do it.
