Agartha Discovered by jermilex Agartha Discovered by jermilex
I have finally completed this image that was the kiriban awarded to Coral-chi back in January. This was painted by her detailed description of the environment.

Created in Corel Painter 11 in about 5 or 6 hours

It is not okay to use this image for any reason without my permission.

Hehe... thanks! This was done a few years ago and I no longer use Painter in my workflow (converted fully to Photoshop now). I know nothing about the rest of the Corel suit, but I do know that Painter is quite amazing and is made for "painting". My workflow used to be a hyrbid of Painter and Photoshop, but now I've discovered tools in Photoshop that do everything I used to do in Painter, so I've moved on to a single application workflow. :)

This is the coolest underground city EVAR. I love your use of contrast with the colors, it really makes the lava stand out.

I ABSOLUTELY adore your environments and maps, I'm so glad I discovered you, you've instantly become a huge inspiration! You're definitely amongst my top fantasy artists. I'm just a novice at these things myself... I have my own fictional game universe and try adding content to it every now and then; characters, creatures, music. But you are something else. This cave here, for instance... ooh, so delicious...

I saw you mentioning speedpainting. Have you thought getting on YouTube and posting speedpaints? I'm sure you'd do great. I mean, here for instance, 5-6 hours. It wouldn't be too hard to record. So think about it, I guess it would help promote your work.

Your environments are breathtaking- including the scenes that aren't as "epic" as this (I'll forever be in awe of your church concept/renderings).

I love the sense of depth and detail in this, and the colors are stunning. Very inspiring, I love your work!

your landscapes/worlds pieces are absolutely inspiring (especially considering how fast you do them). i'm trying to get more into painting/drawing landscapes myself.... would you happen to have any tips? ^^

Wonderfully detailed and so well balanced. I'd like your suggestion. While working on strong details, how much resolution do you suggest we use on photoshop?
Reply
:iconjermilex:
jermilex Featured By Owner Aug 3, 2010  Professional Filmographer
thank you! Yes, I start with very broad strokes. Usually a resolution on 1920 x 1080 (standard HD) is a nice place to start (but in the aspect ratio you want). Then you can scale up the rough sketch to a larger final size to paint out the details

Hey Jeremy! Thanks for the reply and answering my query :)
I had just recently posted an art work for the James and the Giant Peach competition. However, I was unhappy with the loss in quality of the image after the upload. It's 300 dpi and a .png file. Any suggestions?

Just make sure the quality settings in Photoshop are set to maximum when you output and a 300 dpi png file should be just fine.

Awesome stuff, there are so many different light sources! There's no way I would be even remotely able to keep track of that many. :)
