I still have one of these (showing my age lol) and a big box of film reels, seems everywhere my father went during the 70s he brought back those photo discs so we as kids could see his travels. He was a roving electrical engineer troubleshooter based around the persian gulf at the time.

Its a great looking model, superb detail even down to the world patents embossed in the white plastic of the front of it. Congratulations.

Thanks for the feedback and the memories. I found two of these in my mother's basement. Apparently, she never threw away any of the old toys. I decided to model the older of the two viewers that I found. I have one of the slightly later, more curvy, all orange models too. We used to get film reel packs from every family vacation we went on too. I found several sets from Walt Disney World, Sea World and the NASA Cape Canaveral Space Center. I also found tons of sets from television shows and movies that I used to like as a kid. The reels I modeled in this picture have scanned surface textures from several animated superhero shows from the 1970s and 1980s. It was a real trip looking at some of them after all these years.

In my box of reels theres Voyage to the bottom of the sea, time tunnel, land of the giants, a very rare forbidden planet set, hell of a lot of different planet of the apes stuff as well as a first series thunderbirds set the rest of the contents are places my father travelled to and family vacations to the canary islands, italy, malta and greece. I'm hoping when my kids get a little older I can get them into the stereo imagery contained on the reels as its garanteed to show the world as it was in the late 60s and early 70s.

Yeah. I actually forgot what these looked like when you viewed them. I was surprised how crystal clear the images were after all these years, and just how strong the 3D effect was on some of them. I didn't even remember that any of them were 3D or had any depth of field to them. Very cool.
