Your pups looking pretty good, Jereth.
I like the colors you picked out for him.

I like his body, and his big puppy paws.

His head, I can't figure out what it is, but there is something a little odd about it. I don't know, 3/4 line or shadow dividing his face...but what?

still, I think it is great that you are experimenting and learning from this, keep going and I know you will get this little guy down perfectly.

I am glad to see your new artwork Jereth, I always love it!

:icontawadi: told me :quote: and Paste:
"Poke him until he does! He could do one of just the face really"...
That means she thinks that you ought to post your steps as a step by step tutorial of your cartoon! :la: I think that would be a stellar idea too!

from da middleman..er nevermind...from tarp
p.s. I will tell her I poked you with a cyber-stick a couple of times:o

I do it the hard way. Draw, stop, photo, draw...
as for posting your step by step tut. As Tawadi-she will know. I still just do traditional art.

There seems to be an odd lump on the back of his head by the pencil, but it might just be how the hair fell. Hes looking good! Are you happy with him?

Alright, the nose is looking a little better, but its still off. Try to keep the angle of the tip of the nose parallel with the eyes (I dont know how to explain, Ill try to make it more clear when I post the doodles)

Jermo, the thing about cartoons is that there is no shading. There are different levels of light, but shading is non existent. I know you love your paintbrush tool, but you must learn to resist.

Not true. There is no one right way to draw a cartoon, and that includes the shading.

For animation shading is typically either extremely simple or nonexistent, but thats because animators cant just focus on one drawing, they have to be able to quickly and accurately reproduce (or have someone else accurately reproduce) that character several thousand times.

I dont think this character is slated to be animated, so who cares?

If we are discussing what a cartoon is then I would have to agree with tawadi bro. think about it josh. I'm pretty sure lion king and fantasia or all the other Disney movies qualify as cartoons some are less cartoony Ill admit but they all had shadows maybe not shading but then again it all comes down to your definition of cartoon. don't get me wrong josh I definitely appreciate the input I'm always in the mood for crit, it gives me stuff to work on and to my everlasting shame I find my self enjoying work:la:

My point was, you seemed to not be sure whether or not you wanted to shade or go solid in this one. Just a little constuctive critcism.
