Platinus' Xaos Tutorial Transcript
Now, in order for you to begin to understand the idea behind Xaos, you need to learn a little bit about how Apophysis uses transforms to make fractals, so, I'm going to explain this really quickly
Also, it would behoove you to get the following plugins: bipolar, splits, and lazy susan. let me know if you have any trouble finding them, I'll be more than happy to put a link some where
http://n8iveattitude1.deviantart.com/art/stuffs-167945333 This is a great big collection of TONS of plugins, should have what you need
All you need to do to install plugins is to create a folder called Plugins in the same di
BIG THANKS for all nice comments & favourites!
i want to show some parameters for those who like to tweak or learn...
first remove fx and tx4, then for example: play with bcollide_a variable (sensitive) or bcollide tx scale, change position and scale of juliascope tx, try what plangkye explains here http://plangkye.deviantart.com/art/Tutorial-Spherical-Jscope-for-the-Xaos-Phobic-362538919

Add this layer to your Ultra Fractal image to make it look like it's been painted on canvas (example above).
For use in Ultra Fractal
This tutorial uses Texture and Yorke plug-ins in mt.ulb with Plug-in Coloring (Gradient) in Standard.ucl, and will work with any Pixel formula.
Suitable for beginners.
Select and copy everything from "Layers" to the last curly bracket, then paste it as a new layer in the fractal you are working on.

Links to ALL UF challenges (updated periodically!)
Since the UF challenges are growing in number, instead of linking them all in each new one, I thought I'd make a collection journal for all of them. This will contain all challenges held so far, from the newest (top) to the oldest (bottom), all conveniently thumbed for you! It will also be updated each month so that ALL challenges are reachable from here, even the newer ones. And this journal will of course be linked in every challenge, to keep them all connected :aww:
Here we go!
Fractal Software To Create These Beautiful Fractals
There are many different kinds of fractal generating software out there, just waiting for an artist to create beautiful fractal images.
Many of them are free and some of them even have creators who are members here at Deviant Art!.
There are groups available that are devoted to specific programs....and there are groups that solicit your art no matter which
software you choose to use.
This journal will by no means be exhaustive, or complete....
.....but will give you some idea as to where YOU might like to start on your fractal-creating journey.
There are so many beautiful fractal images in the art world...
...and the ones here at Deviant Art are no exception! The images are as diverse as each person who creates it. I am a lay-person on the subject when it comes to explaining the art itself. Simply put...fractals are based on Mathematical Equations. The how and the why of this explanation still eludes me, but the beauty of the images keep my creating them. For information about the underlying mathematics check this Wikipedia link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fractals
This journal will look at the elements that go into creating a beautiful Fractal Image, rather then the compl
We are a group of fractal artists dedicated to learning and improving our skills using Ultra Fractal, a premier fractal generating and editing program. Written by Frederik Slijkerman. and introduced in 1997, Ultra Fractal incorporates layering and masking capabilities and with its hundreds of formulas, coloring algorithms, mapping transforms and a very robust gradient editor, the creative possibilities for a fractal artist are truly endless.
Ultra Fractal is available for a 30 day trial period at http://www.ultrafractal.com and the Standard version is $59 (US), the Animation version is $129 (US).
We are willing
We are a group of fractalist, offering mentorship to deviantART's most devious fractalist. This project was originally founded by cmptrwhz (https://www.deviantart.com/cmptrwhz). Below is our current Group administration as well as some information about each mentor.
Moderators help maintain the functionality of this Group. Although moderators are not listed as Mentors, Moderators are available to mentor deviants.
Mentors are currently available to mentor deviants within their specified programs.:megaphone: To Request a Mentor :note:
If you would like to be mentored by any Mentor, send that mentor a 'Mentor R
Welcome to the =Apophysis group you are now a member. Our group website has many resources at your disposal. We have a chat room #Apophysis, forums, you can submit art to the gallery, tutorials, weekly challenges and many other fun things to do. Check out our journals for more info.
