Damn DA and their short titles. :noes:

Oh lord, where to start with this?

I've been a Pokemon fan since early 1999. I remember the very first Pokemon thing I saw, a promotional poster in one of my magazines shortly before the games arrived here in Europe, this poster had every one of the original 150 cast in a double spread page, and it completely captivated me, although I weren't to play the game for a few more months, I immediately put this poster up in my bedroom. All the different creatures completely fascinated me, they were all so interesting and unique, and I couldn't get over just how many there were.

It wasn't till much later when one day when I came home from school, turned on the TV, looked around for something to watch, and ended up watching a Pokemon episode for the first time. I remember the episode vividly; it was episode 4, the Butterfree one. And the creatures were as beautiful as my poster had shown.

But it wasn't just that, the connection and friendship that Ash and Metapod/Butterfree had struck something deep inside. Maybe it was just the fact that I myself was a lonely child, but I fell in love with the idea of traveling with companions that you catch, train, and battle together to reach your goal.

I got Pokemon Blue not long after and started playing immediately. The game was even better then the show, and the more I played, the more I got attached to my little team of Pokes.

As with many Pokemon fans, I got teased for liking it, but I was never ashamed. They may have just been game data, just pixels, but to me they were much more. I thought up personalities for them, and back-stories. I put all the work into training my little squad up until finally we faced the Elite Four. And eventually won.

That first feeling when you've beaten the Elite Four, and become Champion, thanks to all your training and hard work, not just yours, but your Pokemon too.. there's nothing quite like it.

Late last year, I was playing through my Japanese copy of Pokemon Pearl, and finally after what seemed like forever we reached the Elite Four. It was a long grueling challenge - my team were barely level 50 while all the Elite Four, and especially Shirona, were way stronger.

But I had faith and trust in my little team, we'd come through so much together; beaten the Gym Leaders, taken down Ginga Dan, even faced legendaries, and my faith in them came through. We pulled through regardless of everything the E4 threw at me. And when we finally defeated Shirona's last Pokemon, Milotic, as soppy and mushy as it is, I was so happy I cried.

I've loved Pokemon almost a decade now, and I'll continue loving it for a decade more, and even when I'll old and wrinkly if its still going by then XD; The magic of Pokemon is still there even after ten years, and it'll keep bringing us back for more, that's just what it does.

So to finish off, no. Pokemon isn't just a game. It isn't just a show either, and it most definitely is not "just a fad". It inspires us, it brings us together, and most important of all, it makes us, the fans, happy.

Because this world needs more happiness.

But that's just my opinion. What do you think?

Your speech regarding the game really struck me in the feels. Pokemon is and always has been more than just a game to me as well. I used to make up personalities and back stories for my Pokemon too! I became especially attached to the Pokemon in pokemon silver... They were my little, digital friends.

When my Pokemon silver's data was erased because of the battery dying, I got so down about it, that I think I threw the cartridge away. Was really stupid, and I regret that choice at the time, but it really bummed me out to be met with that awful screen lacking that comforting sentence "Continue".

One day, I plan to get another GBC silver game and play it over, and next time take the precautions to ensure I never lose that data again. (more for the GBC Pokemon games, than the newer ones. Just personal preference!)

It is nice to see that there is someone out there other than myself that gets attached to their Pokemon like I do.

Great stamp!

I love this stamp because it's true! Everyone thinks pokemon is just a game of rock/paper/scisors where animals
fight to the death with each other, But people who think it like that sicken me.
Pokemon is a whole new world where you can be free from troubles and make great friends and memories.
Pokemon is connecting and becoming closer with one another.

I respect your opinion if you don't see it like that, but please don't be a jerk about it.

Pokemon saved my damn life.
Pokemon gave me hope
Pokemon made me realize that there was so much to live for
Pokemon taught  me to be myself no matter what.

So yeah it definitely IS NOT "Just a game"

In a cruel world where you are constantly spat at, looked down upon. POKEMON were my friends.

If it wasn't for Pokemon, I wouldn't have the amazing wonderful friends I have today <3

I will ALWAYS be a Pokemon Fan. Forever.

Whoever thinks it's "Evil" should get assaulted by a cactus in their ass. I have ZERO tolerance for people who hate Pokemon for stupid reasons.

One does not simply play Pokemon.

Also, almost my whole marching band loves Pokemon so we talk about it and we battle each other. The day Pokemon X and Y came out, the seniors came running into the band room holding their copies of X and Y and we all cheered.

I wanted to be the very best like no person ever was. I wanted to catch them because that was my test. My cause was to train them. With their arm and mines, we would win the fight cause it was my destiny. pokemon.

I think for every Pokemon game I've played (and I've played almost every one!), I cry for each of them.
Don't even get me started on Pokemon Dungeons, I bawl like a baby.
Maybe I take Pokemon too seriously. But yes, it's much more than a game. To me, that is.

Why do I cry? I don't know. I just get overwhelmed, from happiness, or sadness. Winning the Pokemon League, or something bad that happens gets me worked up. xD" I just love it so much.

And yes, it is certainly a way of life. Well said.

My first word was Pikachu. Pokemon aired on the TV shortly after I was born, and I've been hooked onto it as long as I can remember. I hope Pokemon carries on at least until I have kids, so that I can relate to them, hen Pokemon hopefully is still going strong and really popular. I also get bullied for liking it, but I don't care, I'll carry on watching and playing it until I'm 100 if I have to. You're right, Pokemon isn't just a game or a show, it's a whole community. Thank you Pokemon for being one of my many inspirations, long live Pokemon!
