This is by far my favorite piece from my Greek Mythology theme, though yet again, I suck at taking photos. Seriously, once this school year is over, I'm going to scan everything, even if big things like this have to be scanned in four pieces. Oh well. Anyway, the original story of Pygmalion goes that a sculptor (Pygmalion) sculpted a woman so beautiful that he fell in love with it. Aphrodite felt bad for him, so she turned the scultpture into a real woman. I wanted to show the same kind of thing, but with a drawing instead.

You can see a photo of my models standing next to the original here: [link] Kind of creepy.

This won 1st Place in the Other Media category and our Booster Club Award at my high school art show.

Perhaps a classic dilemma that many artists share. "No woman for me" so I'll just draw the girl of my dreams, have her come to life, and all is well and good until the marriage license asks to see a state issued photo ID.

I think this is my favorite. You really captured the differing emotions of the two characters beautifully.

*fave'd* ... A delightful twist on the Pygmalion-and-Galatea legend. He shows just the right amount of shock — utterly surprised, but perfectly gratified.

Somehow, the slight vagueness of colored pencil helps with the mood, as if it's almost put together out of shades of a dream. Too much realism of technique would, for me, break the illusion with a how'd-that-happen feeling.

I like this one very much.
I have to translate Pygmalion for Latin, but it's a nice story so it comes quite easily - and it also is a wonderful inspiration ^^

0.0 Now that is a neat picture! 8D I really like it! The girl's neck seams a little long... But I'm still learning to draw people, so I can't really say. =3

Awesome pic!! ^^ =D
