As a few of you may know, it is the late Paul Shenar's 77th birthday.
Paul Shenar (1936-1989) was the voice actor who protrayed the main antagonist/secondary character Jenner (Genre) in "The Secret of NIMH" (1982). He was also the one who helped Don Bluth alternate the villian for this astonishingly beautiful film I consider "a masterpiece". At first, Jenner was a skinny, dull, nearly bald rat with only ambition and no charm. When Paul came into the picture, he looked at the character's designs and made some changes with Don. That's when the real Jenner bloomed into the story. From a dull, skinny, nearly bald rat into a frightening yet strong, muscular, incredibly handsome gentleman with charm and ambition but also . . . a taste for blood.
So in honor of Paul Shenar on this date, we members of DA honor you on your birthday.
Happy Birthday, Paul Shenar!
