'The Siren and the Seamare' {Song Cover Art}

<(^.^<) Soo happeehh! Congrats, everyone, and thank you all for your support! (>^.^)>

'The Siren and the Seamare'

Be sure to check out my COMIC SERIES of the song as well!

Whoohoo! Time to break the silence on a secret project (well, one of my secret projects) I've had brewing for a while :phew:

Nine months ago, I approached the great and musically-talented Carbon Maestro with a commission idea for a song with vocals. I knew that I wanted it to be related to the Sirens, namely the lovely leader Adagio and a character I created a long time ago, the seamare Turquesa, as (in their desperation) they combine the crumbs of what they have left to make a change in their miserable lives, but at a very dangerous cost.

Working on this song has been a challenging yet amazing experience for me, for I have never written lyrics nor worked on anything musical before. As the commissioner, it was my job to choose who I wanted to have voice said characters. From the get go, I already knew I wanted SweetPoffin as Turquesa, for I had been following her vocal work for a couple of years ad with her versatility and passion, knew she'd provide something special to the table for the seamare. And Adagio? Pfft, didn't even have to think about it. C'mon, who better than the mistress of Siren voicework herself, Wubcake? Together, I think the four of us were able to weave something a little special and if it wasn't for the hard work, endurance and patience of everyone involved, this never would have happened, so thank you guys!

As for the story, I'm afraid can't go into full details at this time, but as you can surmise, this tale revolves mostly around Adagio and her sisters Aria and Sonata (yes, in my mind, the three are siblings), as they wander through a sort of limbo in life post-Rainbow Rocks. Meanwhile, another character is sort of going through her own terrible...situation (sorry, so hard not to spoil) and eventually, casually bumps into the leader of the Sirens. Let's see, um, things happen and that leads to other stuff happening and as a result, life goes up, then as all things that go up, come down and myeah, it isn't pretty. LoL! I know, I know, don't hate me.

Have I written anything solid about all this yet? Hm, no, not really, only what I've shared with people extremely close to me who I've grown to really trust. But because this means so much to me, it is something that I am excited to focus on next year. The main reason for the slow process is time. I work 40 hours a week, so the time I have to dedicate on personal projects is very far and in between, not to mention that I'm trying to finish personal and special art pieces on the side and perfect my art techniques. Secondly, I don't believe in factory-pressed stories. If I'm going to write something, I want it to be something that I have thought about all the way through and have a clear direction of where I want to take it and any characters associated with it.

With that said, I think I'd prefer to draw this story in comic format versus writing it out because that would take f-o-r-e-v-e-r! Plus, I'd like to perfect my comic-drawing and storyboard skills, after being somewhat inspired by my bestest best friend Jacky-Bunny and her Speedy Gonzalez comic techniques :)

Speaking of Jacky, I'm very proud to point out that this picture is a collab effort between her and I. I may have illustrated the picture, but she provided the amazing effects and colors that you see here :boogie: It came out soooo amazing and I'd like to thank her for being so patient with me during the process via Livestream and for listening to my sh*tty story ideas :) Thanks, lovelyyyy :glomp::kiss:

Well, I think that's all there really is to say about this :D I guess I'll add that this was my very first time drawing the Sirens as humans and I'm really happy with how they turned out. I'm heavily influenced by shoujo art, especially Takeuchi Naoko's manga style (it's sooooo PRETTY) and hope I can master my own spin on it someday.

Anyway, enough rambling!

I'd like to thank everyone who helped make this song possible and for those who I confided my secrets to and were there during the developmental process. Without you all, this never would've happened, so thanks so much for your support and you all have my love

In past week, I've listened to this song about...ten times.

It isn't just a good effort on the part of a brony. This song feels like something that came from a really hardcore Disney movie.

I wish you had a Hollywood movie budget and tons of time.  You could make an excellent animated movie musical.

First of all, I am very flattered that you enjoy the song so much, that you've listened to it multiple times ♥ It was a real joy to commission Carbon for it and to help bring it all to life. So thanks!

And yes oh gosh, if ONLY I had that budget and amount of time to put together an actual animation. However, I do plan on creating an animatic, so there's that to look forward to ^^

Stay tuned! And thanks again for the wonderful comment

Do you have a youtube channel where you can post the animatic?

Sisters? Well, that explains why they bicker so much, I guess - and why they stay together despite apparently not liking each other very much. "You choose your friends, you choose your enemies..."

Just came back to the song after a while and am investigating the story behind it. Unfortunately the song alone leaves it a bit nebulous, but I'll check out your other related work to see what happens!

Oh goodness, I'm so sorry for the late reply! Catching up on all my messages and came across this one >_< Forgive meeeee :cling:

Haha yes, I think when it comes to these three, though they were collectively displaced from the same realm together, I think to survive in an alternate world demands sticking together and even with the constant bickering, you'd have to be family in order to tolerate it for so many years :) [Note: I don't agree with the comic's theory that they were banished so close to the Rainbow Rocks timeline; I mean, Starswirl was around ages ago? So why would they have been banished so close those events? Anyway...]

Thanks for checking the song out and this piece as well! Now that I'm not working after being fired last week, I hope to go back to this story and really tell it how I want with more artwork to come :hooray:

I've often found myself singing parts from the song. It's really powerful and good. And not just in 'good fanmusic' sense, it's good no matter what and I listen to a lot of different music

Oh gosh, thank you so much! That really means a lot, and I'm glad you find it enjoyable :) Carbon Maestro, Wubcake and SweetPoffin did a great job bringing my story and lyrics to life, and I couldn't have asked for a better team :boogie:

This piece here is beyond stunning to say the very least. I really love the song it comes with. I hope that the story behind this is either still ongoing or properly finished.

Oh my gosh, thank you! Much apologies for the late reply; work and school keep me plenty busy nowadays T^T Anyhow, I really appreciate the warm comment and I'll be working on the story's "next" page very soon :) I'm glad you like the song as well and I'll be sure to pass along your kind words to the other artists who brought the song to life

No worries. I can understand not having time and hell, other than myself,I have other artists whom I respect needing some down time every now and then.

Glad to see this work isn't abandoned.

Trust me when I say that I really do appreciate those words as well as your patience. This is something I don't want to let go and story I'm anxious to tell. Of course, that always means time, but in the end, it'll be worth it.
