Boy, I really fell off the radar for a few years. I knew having a kid would be time-consuming, but I honestly did not expect to lose my artistic drive. I just wasn't inspired. At all. Until now. My muse is pounding on the door and leaning on the doorbell unrelentessly, thanks to the Dragon Age Origins and Mass Effect. I have been sucked into their universe and become emotionally invested into characters that make me laugh and cry. I scour the blogosphere for comments and artwork based off those two games. I get jealous when I see people churning out fan artwork and find myself wanting to join the fray. I'm making myself earn a new scanner

I remember not understanding how to draw profiles. I thought it was just a squiggly line and somewhere in that there was a nose and mouth. My faces would look squished and unproportional. I really wanted to learn how to draw profiles so I googled for face tutorials and waded through a lot of online suggestions which didn't make sense to me or just overwhelmed me. I did find two tutorials that "clicked" with their simple explanations. I printed them out and carried it with me at all times in my bag. My boss let me off work early (woo woo!) and I basically spent the afternoon at home catching up on DA. It was a mistake to let this slide for so long because I had a million deviants and messages waiting for me. I geniunely hope no one thinks I'm ignoring their work -- I really do love looking at other people's artwork and responding to the pieces. For some reason, it just takes me a while to really get involved in a community. (I'm currently trying to be an active part of a family & pregnancy board so I don't look like a hit-and-run poster when I finally have questions about how to take care of a baby!
