Your Home for APN Photography

Thank you for joining us at AnimalsPlantsNature during the month of August! Each week we brought you a variety of features, interviews, or tutorials. In case you missed one of the articles, or want to see something again, here is a recap!

Artists of APN: EtherealSceneriesThis month, I was lucky enough to get a chance to chat with someone who's work I really quite admire! I love looking at his amazingly coloured 'scapes, the gorgeous long exposure shots and of course the beautiful scenery! I am talking about, you guessed it, EtherealSceneries !

Hi, EtherealSceneries ! Let's start off with some introductions. Who are you?
:iconetherealsceneries:
My name is Dustin Montgomery
I am 35 years old and am currently employed as an office manager at a Veterinary Hospital for dogs and cats. I have a wife (Julia 36) and two boys (Liam 3 and Levi 8) one is lazy and the other is crazy. Married with children can make life difficult as a landscape photographer. To be special at this craft you must spend large amounts of time taking and processing images. The balance can be difficult to achieve.
I have lived in Incline Village, NV for over 24 years. I'm originally from Houston, TX
I am Bipolar type 2, ADHD, agoraphob
Artists of APN: @DominikaAniolaHello and welcome to an interview series that will introduce you to the artists of Animals, Plants and Nature Photography - with a touch of Macro-Nature - here, at AnimalsPlantsNature! We are excited to be bringing you an interview with a well-known photographer, to get a closer look at her photography and the thoughts behind the amazing photos she shares with the DeviantArt community: DominikaAniola
Enjoy the interview!

Before we get started, please take moment to introduce yourself and talk a bit about how you got introduced to the world of photography.
:iconDominikaAniola:
Hi, my name is Dominika and I am an amateur photographer, hobbyist from Poland. Photography had been around me practically all my life. As a kid I would often go through my parents' photos from their journeys around the world (and also family photos). I think, in a way, I've always felt attracted to this kind of art.

In modification of a song written by John Miles I can affirm that photography was my first love and it will be my last. I took my first photos when I was about nine years old, using a very simple click and done camera, without any thematic focus. Soon I upgraded my poor tool and started focusing on plants and animals.

The APN Corner: Vol 6We are continuously working here, at AnimalsPlantsNature, to get to know our members and what they want from this group. We would like to learn who the members of AnimalsPlantsNature are, however, in doing this we realize we have failed to let the members know who we are as Group Admins.
Despite common belief we are not here only to decline your photos. :giggle: We are here to showcase your photos! To properly showcase your work we must organize it so that it can be located by others who would like to see it, that is why we are so very strict with our accepting of your works. So, to help you understand why we do what we do, we thought it would be helpful to get to know who we are.

Now, we have a shiny new Admin! Let's stalk *cough* meet streamweb!

Daisy says to be calm.

streamweb, You are one of our newest recruits here at AnimalsPlantsNature.
The APN Guide: Macro and close-upFull title: About the difference between macro and close-up photography
(It didn't fit, don't blame me Stare )
Imagine you are browsing DeviantArt in the photography section (this might not be a difficult task), and you come across a photograph you really like. For instance, there's a flower or a butterfly on it. You want to let the artist know how much you like it, so you comment something like "Great macro!" or "Brilliant close-up!". In this case, the question remains: was it a macro, or a close-up?
In this article we will discuss the difference between the two!
What is macro photography? What is close-up photography? The difference
Grab yourself a snack, and off we go!
What is macro photography?
Let's start off with a quick introduction to macro photography- just in case you might not be familiar with the term or aren't sure what it entails. For this part of the guide, I had a quick chat

APN Adventures, Vol. 75
APN is the acronym for the Animal, Plants, & Nature photography category at DeviantArt. These recent APN deviations span vast skies to tiny insects. Our planet is truly a magical place. Be sure to catch this feature and MOAR at AnimalsPlantsNature! Check out the group and become a member.
Hopefully the following feature will inspire you to browse the APN Category or to even pick up your own camera and capture some of the world around you. Be sure to check the end of the feature for a list of APN Photographers on Social Media - updated each for volume. On to the artwork!

Our APN, Your APN: Flowers, Trees and PlantsThe group would be nowhere without the steady supply of submissions by our own members.
Every month, we'll highlight a subcategory from our own AnimalsPlantsNature gallery.
