In the few hours before nightfall, a youthful blond makes his way home after an eventful autumn day at school. His teeth grind as he plays the scene in his head, his vexation grows as thoughts of what he should have done cloud his mind. Clicking his tongue, he kicks a can towards the setting sun and takes his usual shortcut through the park, the crisp fallen leaves crunch beneath his feet. He sulks further into himself and huffs into his muffler, shoulders raised and hands shoved deep into his uniform's pockets.
"Katsuki!" a voice shrieks with all its might.
Bakugou stops in his tracks, turning around to find a teary eyed girl in a different uniform running towards him at full speed. Caught off guard, he barely has enough time to brace for impact before she crashes into him and knocks him onto his back with a thud.
"Katsuki!" she yells once again, the tremble in her voice more prevalent this time.
Frustrated, the blond tears the girl away from him to get a better look at his attacker. "(first)?! What the hell's wrong with you?!"
"I was so worried! I heard your class got attacked during rescue training a-and that someone got hurt." Her voice begins to trail off between sniffles, hand clutching the fabric above her heart while her gaze dropped, frustrated that the lump in her throat won’t go away. "And- And I thought- You..."
Finally grasping the situation, Bakugou lets out a heavy, exhausted sigh. He props himself up onto his elbows and turns his gaze to the blades of grasp that sway in the crisp autumnal winds, piercing crimson orbs fixated on their motion in a desperate attempt to distract his brain from the bubbling sensation in his chest.
"Like hell I'd ever get hurt by those weaklings. Did you forget I'm the strongest one there?"
(first) wipes the tears that threaten to fall from her eyes as she tries her best to calm down. "I know you're strong, but there are people stronger than you, Katsu. I have to worry about you."
"Tch," Bakugou scoffs, offended. "You of all people shouldn't be talking, quirkless." (e/c) orbs refuse to meet his, instead they stare at the small pair of hands in the lap of their owner. Once again, the boy with dandelion hair sighs and lies on his back. The clear, ombré sky greets his fiery eyes that trace the outlines of cotton fluffs that crawl through the heavens. A strong arm under his head protects his spiked mane from the ground beneath him.
Grown heavy with emotion, the young girl echoes his actions and lays on top of her boyfriend’s stiffening body. With her head buried in the crook of his fleece-covered neck, her trembling hands now clutch tufts of his blazer after she feels the warmth of a familiar hand delve into her (h/l) tresses.
"You’re worse than my mom,” Bakugou complains, earning a grumble from his love that somehow manages to put the tiniest smile on his lips. “I keep telling you not to worry about me. I'm strong enough to protect myself."
"I can't help it," she mumbles into his shoulder. "I always worry about you."
"Yeah, well I don't worry about you."
The (h/c) girl pulls away, the grip on his shirt tightens from the pang in her throbbing heart. "You don't...?"
"No," the explosive teen begins as he sits up. "Because I'm more than strong enough to protect you."
Immediately, the pair feel their cheeks simultaneously catch fire and their gazes point anywhere but at each other; (first) soon breaks and covers her flushed visage with equally red hands.
"Katsuki, that's so embarrassing," she groans with her forehead pressed against his chest.
The poor boy growls at her and ruffles the back of his head. "Shut up. I was trying to be nice." Despite his rough words, his darling lover breaks out into a soft chuckle, biting her lip bashfully as she pushes her (h/c) locks behind her ear.
"Thanks. That was really corny, but I appreciate it."
Again, the short-tempered male grunts a hushed "Whatever" into his muffler, still unable to look her in the eye out of fear that seeing the blush covering her face will make him go insane.
With a smile on her rosy lips, she leaves a quick peck on his tinted cheek before picking herself up. Bakugou looks up at her with a mix of irritation and embarrassment in his eyes and bites his lip in retaliation. He too shoots up and marches out of the park, a confused girlfriend follows suit.
"Katsuki?” (first) asks, popping from side to side as she tries to catch up with him. “Where are you going? Your house is the other way."
"I'm walking your dumb ass home," the firecracker boy barks without looking back, not that he needed to. He could just feel her perplexed expression morph into that goofy grin he secretly loved so much.
And, of course, his suspicions are confirmed when she latches onto his am and leans into him. "Aw~ Thanks for worrying."
"I told you I'm not worried about you so shut your face," the agitated blockhead snaps as he forecully snatches his arm away.
"You're so cute when you're being a tsundere."
More irritated than ever, Bakugou clicks his tongue and picks up speed in an attempt to leave his annoying girlfriend behind.
"You can walk yourself home."
"Ah- Katsuki, come back~!"
