I'm excited to see more of this series. The initial web page where the preview issue was hosted has expired so it's great to hear this project is still moving forward. Hopefully the Hollywood movie deal doesn't lessen the steam behind this imaginative project's comic version.

Wow... still collecting my thoughts on this one....

I think this is the best work you've done by far. Everything comes together, from you inking your own work, to the colors just popping out... it looks so gorgeous coming thru my ipad. But I must especially commend you on your world building. It was astonishing in its thought out detail and completeness. I'm a New Yorker and you're a California boy, so I assume you used a lot of reference, but you got the geography right.... and I absolutely love using the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Temple of Dendur as the centerpiece of your "Kingdom". I also want to commend you and Pete Ford for putting people of color front and center in your narrative.... I've always admired the way you draw "us" and the care and sensitivity you bring. I read that this was intended as a movie/TV project that didn't get off the ground... I wouldn't give up hope.... If Black Panther is the paradigm shifting event I think it will be, there is likely to be a gold rush for "Afrofuturist" narratives and this Game of Thrones meets Snowpocalypse setting could be very viable, especially with your visuals to back it up. Speaking of Black Panther, you should totally pimp yourself out to Marvel with these pages and see if they put you on a Panther related project... (Or She Hulk... That would put me into a coma!)

Thanks Brian, this is a really nice bit of reading.

I was worried about the New Yorkiness. I have been there two times only, so I depended on photoreference and the wonderful Google Earth. I still screwed up a lot of stuff, like the Empire State being visible while they are crossing the Brooklyn Bridge. I realized afterward that I had mistaken one of the old skyscrapers in lower Manhattan for the Empire State.

I'm glad you like the main characters of color part of it too. Pete ran into difficulties because of that when shopping the idea around as a movie. Thanks for the good words about the character drawing and the rest of it. It is probably the most in-depth thing I have worked on and I am so happy to see it getting out at last.

I'll see if I can send some pages around to my editors and scare up some work- good idea.

Send a note to writer Pete Ford too- he's on here at wynterdarkcomic and he could use some fanmail!
