I grew up with comic books from a pretty young age, but it wasn’t until I was nearly in high school before I really knew anything about Batman and the Joker.
Oh, I knew who they were. I knew that Batman was Bruce Wayne, that he dressed like a bat to fight crime, and pretended to be an idle playboy to allay suspicion to his secret. I knew that the Joker was Batman’s archenemy, that he looked like a clown and had an evil laugh.
