So, my friends and I decided to get back together and work hard on some new Wildlight material.  I left Wildlight hanging at the end of her origin story.  So, the next part of the story happens later, when she has some experience under her belt.  We want to give her a fresh look, as well, so we're kickin' things off with a design contest... and we would love for you to participate!  Head over to jcservant.wordpress.com/contes… for more information.

Salutations.

Unfortunately, I fell well short of my creative goals this year, as my job asked me to step up quite a bit.  I have a number of other priorities before drawing and writing, and many of the others won out.  Aside from my job, I have focused on working out, Bible studying, and writing practice.

Things slow down for me this month, so I took a little time to review some of the things I worked on this year.  Towards the beginning of the year, I started to write a short fiction story titled, "A Journey's End."  I wrote a few thousands words, but completely lost sight of it as other things jumped in my lap.  So, with the extra time I have, I plan to knock it out.

You can read the earlier chapters, and the intro by following this link.  Start at the bottom with "Introduction" and work your way up :)  You can also find artwork for it by searching my gallery :)

My Concern for “Christians”

Many of my friends say “I am a Christian and I’m going to heaven.”  I ask, “How do you know?”  The answer is usually something along the lines that they said a prayer, somewhere, with sincerity, asking God into their heart.  The reality is that well over 50% of Americans believe something similar, and yet we all recognize that very few people live the Christian life.

The Bible does not state that if one says a prayer, with sincerity, they become saved.  The Bible says that we must have faith in Jesus, and repent.

And a lot of people are going to hell because they believe that a prayer, at some point in their life was all that was needed for salvation.  Here’s what the Bible says,

Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you'” (Matthew 7:21-23).

When Paul address the Corinthians, he did not ask them if they said a prayer sincerely in their past.  That’s simply not in the Bible.  He said, “Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves!” (2 Corinthians 13:5).

Now, please don’t misunderstand, I’m not implying a salvation by works.  However, “Faith without works is dead.”  If you’re not living a Christian life now…if you’re not praying, seeking God, repenting/confessing of sin, looking to love other, etc, etc, right now, you may not be a Christian, and may be in danger of judgment in Hell.  No one is perfect, but

A pastor once said,  “There are countless numbers of youth who have their hopes of going to heaven set on a prayer that they said when they were 5 or 6 years old. Is this biblical? Absolutely not. First off, our hope must be set on Christ today and not on a profession of faith from the past. If the profession of faith you made years ago was truly true then it will still be holding strong today. (Jeremiah 32:40, 1 John 2:19). Titus 1:16 says many profess to know God but deny Him by their works. You see it is not a matter of a verbal confession of faith that saves us. Matthew 7:21 – “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ As you can see here there are many people who profess to know the Lord but will find out on judgment day that they never knew Him. Let me ask you that question, do you know God? John 17:3 says that eternal life is to know the one true God and Jesus Christ whom He has sent.

The sad reality is that churches in the world have turned from allowing the true gospel to save souls and have created methods that only give people a false hope. In the back of the mind of so many people they know in the depth of their consciences that their only hope of heaven is a prayer they said in the past and not the life that is being lived out now. A life that must be relying on Christ alone and not in your works or religious acts. There are many people who are extremely religious that are extremely lost and there are many who are totally immoral and want to believe they are saved.”

For those of you with Youtube video, this one sums it up (if you can deal with the ‘edgy’ host:)

As the bible says, examine yourself.  Being a Christian isn’t about being a republican, knowing what’s right and wrong, saying a prayer or even believing in God (The Devil believes in God!)  It’s about having a faith in Jesus Christ that leads to repentance, and that repentance will lead to a life that bears fruit of the spirit by the Spirit of Christ.  If your faith is in Him, He will lead you to make the way.  Again, don’t put the cart before the horse.  There are many who appear “rightous,” yet are not saved because they do these ‘rightous’ deeds out of the flesh for any number of reasons.  A Christian does good deeds out of a heart of love and faith in Jesus Christ as lead by the Holy Spirit.

I hope this helps some of you.  Please let me know if I can pray with you, read God’s Word together, or just chat.

By His Grace,

Phil

A number of my friends believe there's something super evil about Halloween and hide in their house.  Others attend 'Fall Festivals" at their church.  I believe the devil rejoices either way.  Here's a golden opportunity to talk with people about God.  They walk right up to your door!  Seriously!  It's like evangelism, but easier.  You don't even have to knock.  Put on the hot cider, buy the best candy possible, and give to your neighbor...and maybe...just maybe, they'll ask you, "why?"  Check out this short video for more information.  www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEdKKY…
The Wildlight Origins reboot writing process begins today. For those who aren't aware, (all three of you who follow Wildlight!), I'm doing a rewrite of the first season currently posted at Cyberlight. This retelling of Tammy's Origin story will be streamlined, with some editorial changes to make it a better story. (Not to mention, as my first major attempt at writing, there are numerous mistakes).

The re-release will be an e-book only (with a few illustrations that I will post here as I draw them) that should be done before the Cyberlight relaunch. For those who want to keep up with the rough draft version of the story as I write it, follow my blog (jcservant.wordpress.com) .

I'll by using yWriter 5 to help me keep this epic story organized and write it up. The first step is I will read through the comic that's already up, filling in information into yWriter (taking notes) as I do so. I'll keep general posts up here as I knock that out. Once I begin the rewrite, expect chapters to show up on my blog.
Salutations!

I'm back on the DevianArt Scene here in 2014.  I'm working hard on various hobbies... writing stories, games, retrogaming podcast and drawing.  Somehow, down the road, these will all pull together :)  In the mean time, I juggle them all in the air.  The best way to keep up with my progress in each one is to follow my twitter feed at twitter.com/jcservant .

In the area of drawing, I recently picked up Manga Studio, and I'm practicing drawing completely digital.  My first practice drawing, as rough as it is, can be found in my gallery.

I pray that the Lord is blessing you.  Feel free to shoot me off a message if you want to chat :)

Cyberlight Comics is Looking for Artists and Writers!

Salutations!

Welcome to the world of Cyberlight Comics!  For over six years, we have been hosting Christian web based comics from all over the world.  With free-to-read comics from almost every genre and actively engaged in the internet community, Cyberlight is firmly established as a platform for Christian artists to 'shine their light.'  Cyberlight actively advertises on many sites, including paid advertising on major search engines to maximize exposure for our artists.  Every year, Cyberlight team members also attend comic conventions as well as hand out artwork, business cards and CD Rom versions of the site absolutely free of charge.   Our primary vision is to bring our readers closer to God through the medium of online comics.  Our secondary goal is to bring Christian comic artists together to encourage one another and create projects through teamwork when possible.

With our new site completely up and running, we are looking to add more titles to our growing library.  There has never been a better time to post your comic on the largest Christian web-comic site on the internet!  If God has laid it on your to share His message of love via the medium of comics, there's no better outlet than Cyberlight.  For no cost, you comic will be hosted and read by thousands of site visitors.  You still retain full rights of all of your works, so you can feel free to host your comics on other sites, or even print them out if you so desire (we actually encourage this.  The more places a light is shined, the better!).

If you would like to learn more, please read our submission guidelines at cyberlightcomics.com/bboard2/i… .  Also, you can contact our project coordinator any time at jcservant[at]cyberlightcomics[dot]com .  By His Grace, we can bring others closer to God, and glorify His name!

Given an advanced personal stealth and armor system, Tammy is thrust into a classic battle of good vs. evil. However, the greatest battles she fights are the ones within.  This first season shows how she gets her power suit, her deteriorating relationships with friends and family as she's forced to face the one she blames for all of her problems: God.

After a lengthy hiatus, Cyberlight Comics ( cyberlightcomics.com) is back on the internet scene!  But worry not, we've been hard at work on giving the site a complete overhaul.  Cyberlight 5.0 is now online in it's beta stage, ready for your reading pleasure.  While our library is somewhat limited as we work on the site, you'll find a number of your favorite long time comics, such as Wildlight, as well as a new surprise or two.

For our new readers: Entering it's seventh year, Cyberlight Comics hosts dozens of Christian webcomics absolutely free.  With genres ranging from goth to politic satire to sci-fi action, all comics share a common goal of glorifying God on the internet.  Please read cyberlightcomics.com/aboutus.h… for more information about Cyberlight Comics, and how interested Christian artists and entertainment creators may get involved.

On a related note: Read our recent press release about the re-launch of our first webcomic, Wildlight, at www.24-7pressrelease.com/press… .

Interesting thing is as I work to revamp and reboot the site, I feel God working harder on my own hard doing kinda the same thing.  There's been more of a focus to dedicate more and more parts of my life...parts that I normally reserve for myself... and give them to Him.

Salutations.

Effective the beginning of this year, Cyberlight Comics has suspended it's weekly updates while we conduct extensive renovations on the direction, look and feel of the site, it's comics and it's team members.  Rejoin us mid-march for the new 'reboot' of Cyberlight Comics.  (The term "reboot" is all the rage these days, so we figure that just by using it, our popularity will double!). The current site will stay up during this time, so access to our rich archive of Christian Comics remains available to all.  Additionally, if you would like to see special previews to our work and progress, and have an opportunity to provide input as the renovations are underway, please feel free to join our bulletin board (It's a secret project that is open to the public.  Go figure!)

As always, your prayers and comments are always appreciated.
