Inspired by medieval manuscripts
The courageous knight stared deep into the beast’s cave, gripping his sword tightly. Nearby, the fair maiden was tied to a stake, crying for him to just get her down already.
“No my lady,” He said with cold resolve, “I must ensure no one else will die sating the hunger of this foul beast.”
The princess sighed in defeat. This was going to take a while.
He could hear the creature slowly creeping out of the cave. A few minutes later, he could see its shadowy silhouette. Another few minutes later, the beast revealed itself in the light. The knight would’ve shit himself had he been of fainter heart.
It was... a snail! By God, it was the biggest snail he ever saw! It was slightly bigger than his foot! Bringing his sword back, he charged, yelling “Have at thee, you wretched monster!”
And then the snail ate him in one gulp.
