My Bio
Author, editor, photographer and general ne'er-do-well.

I help out as a second shooter for my wife, owner of Lisa On Location photography (www.LisaOnLocation.com). My skill set falls into the "Jack of all trades, master of none" realm I suppose. I enjoy shooting landscapes, glamour portraits, conceptual and macro photography, although I can't claim any great skill beyond a general competence. I tend to gravitate toward mildly experimental work when left to my own devices. My failures vastly outnumber my successes. I'm big into infrared photography, which is something of a specialty of mine. With human subjects, I am attracted to interesting use of lines, curves, texture and mood, even if I don't always manage to include those. I'm always looking to try something new and collaborate with confident, creative individuals.

My essay final from Advanced Traditional Photography 3361 this past semester. Use is permitted only if proper citation and credit is given (ie don't plagiarize): Karl Blossfeldt (1865-1932), the German photographer who profoundly influenced macro as well as fine art photography in 1928 with his landmark volume, Art Forms in Nature, ironically didn't consider himself a photographer. Nor did he pursue photography as an art form. An enthusiastic amateur, to Blossfeld photography was merely a tool, a means to an end, and he used it as such. The fact that the images he so painstakingly created over a three-decade period were–and remain–jaw-dropp

Just a quick note to say I've enrolled in several advanced photography courses at Texas State for the spring 2013 semester. I took 9 hours back in 2008 as a second degree-seeking student (having earned my B.A. in journalism from Texas A&M way back in '92) but the demands of work prevented me from continuing the degree plan. Obviously, I'm simultaneously nervous and excited, as my new classes will offer a mix of dark room and digital work. Yes, I'll work with film. And digital. And tax my skills and challenge me to become a better photographer. Look for a lot of new photography from me in the future as I navigate these uncharted waters of hig
