Tour Jete by jbcasacop Tour Jete by jbcasacop
Tour jete: the painting. An artwork showing a combination of representational and non-representational elements to convey rhythm and movement.

I studied ballet for six years before I took up fine arts. Yes. Six years before college. That was more than a decade ago. I weighed 120 lbs back then. I could no longer execute most of the movements that used to be part of my daily routine. Aaaand... I have gained a lot of weight! Now I'm a little over 180 lbs! Hahaha!

I still remember some of the steps though. Like tour jete, for example. A jete is a leap in which the weight of the dancer is transferred from one foot to another. Tour jete is a variation where the leap is executed while turning.

The dancer in my painting isn't actually leaping but I decided to go with the title because the girl in the reference photo I used looked like she was preparing to execute a tour jete. I could be wrong because I haven't trained for so long and I've most certainly become rusty. :D

Technicals:

I would like to give credit to :iconcrisfx: and :iconenv1ro: whose custom watercolor brushes I used in this painting.

Adobe Photoshop CS5.

Fantastic! I love dance. The pose is really dynamic, I don't know how to explain it, it just seems alive

I love the movement in this picture. The dress looks like it was too big for the girl! but who knows what you were intending. This is wonderful! :+fav:
