Monarch Butterfly

Description

This is a monarch butterfly I made using a page from a coloring book found here. I'm thinking of entering it into =rockgem's Fractal Animal Contest. The fractal for the wings was made by me, but the body of the butterfly is from :iconrockgem: who so generously helped me find a solution to being unable to craft a body myself.

:aww: Enjoy :aww:

Other than the fact that this picture breaks the rule of being too centered and symmetrical (which is often encouraged by art professors/teachers to not crop it this way) and that butterflies have been done many times; this picture is positively stunning. The depth color-wise in the wings make this picture come to life. The dark lines in the wings add extra emphasis, detail and mystery. The wings have a fiery soul to them. The transparency of the center also adds to the butterfly's mystery.

This picture makes me want to know the story of this butterfly. It reminds me of the idea of butterflies appearing after someone's death.
