Map of the Literature

After months of hard work and many sleepless nights, I am very grateful to present you the finished Map of the Literature II, now available for sale in a poster form!

It is a massive, detailed infographic in the form of a map, that visualizes more than 4 millenia of literary authors and their masterpieces, showing how the multitudes of diverse literary genres sprouted, branched and eventually evolved to their modern state. It's roughly divided to 5 main sectors, each one wholly dedicated to prose, poetry, drama, non-fiction or even comic books.

Although it might appear hallucinatorily complex at a first glance, Map of the Literature is more simple and straightforward than it looks like.Every literary movement and a genre is its own continental realm. Every single dot on the map on the map represents a single author, and every tiny rhombus a single literary work. It takes just a few seconds to spot dozens of the best selling and most talented authors and their works

The map unfolds from its very center outwards, beginning with the most ancient literature of Sumer and Egypt, and eventually reaching modernism, postmodernism and the current day.

A more detailed explanation and a brief walkthrough through every segment of the map can be found on my website,

Designed in a grandiose and detailed beaux-arts style with a hint of baroque, this map is guaranteed to be a grand attention-grabbing centerpiece of any room!

Not sure why Ursula K. Le Guin is shown as only one city in Fantasy. She's a vast country stretching into Science Fiction and Transgressive Fiction, as well as a small overseas territory in Realism.
You're the first one to make me comment on deviantart. You're work is magnificent.

Stunning. Not only beautifuly made, but the fact that such a massive amount of information could be processed into an organized (if a bt cramped) map like this is impressive on its own. It is obvious at a first glance how much effort and dedication it took to make this piece. Very inspirational!
