Kaza's Mate Gwenna Story #15
The ideas are not flowing quite as well as I'd like, but I'm trying to make it work. I don't really script out my stories, and just write the story as I draw. Normally that lets each page help flow into the next one, but it's been a bit more disjointed this time around. So far, I have readjusted the story (taking a bit of inspiration from that poll I tossed out) and now of the ten pages I have so far, I think eight of them will end up as part of the story. The seventh page I drew is going to end up as the first page, and that scene of Kaza and Gwenna coming back to the jungle I showed off earlier will get moved back further from the beginning. I'm also making more use of my supporting cast in this story. The preview made it obvious Nula and the Commissioner are involved, but I am also involving the Natari (though how much I'm not quite sure yet.) Plus Duke and Sammy, the nightclub act duo that got involved in the later half of Up the River will be making a return engagement. So that
World Building in Kaza's Mate Gwenna
For a long time, I didn't really have any firm designs for the world Kaza and Gwenna live in, beyond it being the jungle, and a few places that got named. I did eventually decide to use the fictional country of Buranda as the setting. I took the name from the old British political sitcom Yes, Minister. I kept some aspects the series established, such as it's status as the former colony called British Equatorial Africa, but played a bit fast and loose with them. I also made the fictional country of Zamunda, from Eddie Murphy's Coming to America movies, as it's northern neighbor. The other nations around Buranda were just placeholder names I had come up with, without any real thought about them. Then @CryptidasMicroraptor had started developing some material for Playground, a spinoff from his Cryptida comic. One of the characters from Cryptida is a woman named Selene Wildebees, who originates from an African nation called Macrobiana. This lead to another map, which tied the various
Story #15 Preview Skecthes
Just giving a teaser of the first few pages for story 15. This is what I have so far, though I will be adding a page in between the third and fourth one. I did make use of a panel from one of those incomplete stories I posted earlier. The two panels on the last page were intentionally removed to avoid a spoiler for the story.
