To be hones, I haven't looked at DC for a while, and I find this picture refreshing and inevitably weird to look at. You nailed the uneasiness the Joker aims for, not a lot of people can do that. *applauds*

But enough of the sugar. There are two things here that I feel make the whole thing a little off.

One is the background. O.K, he's laughing. But he looks more as if he is chuckling through gritted teeth, the teeth aren't spaced out enough, or rather, they teeth are too big. And the eyes..I would rather have them look at me then up there. No offense. Then the Ha!'s would look legitimit. Perhaps an actual background behind the Ha!'s?

Also, the shading is confusing me. So you shade the hair (rather well, I might add), but almost nothing on the face? With the shaded areas here all I can say is that the light source is everywhere. Perhaps you do have enough shading, just not dark enough. Take care of that, and then your picture will be great!
