A Sonic Blanket

Acrylic on wood panel.
12x12 inches.

About 10 years ago I did a whole series of people wearing headphones. I felt like it was time to return to the subject this time with my current (hopefully improved?) techniques.

I'm scheduled for a solo show this January at Dorothy Circus Gallery (Rome, Italy). I'm calling the show "Cinephonic". In it, I'm exploring the use paint, texture, and color to visualize the movement of sound and rhythm.

This piece is another preview of what I'm working on.

That sounds like an very interesting series.  I'd love to see more pieces related to the concept (I'll be perusing some more, that is).

This piece makes me think of a new Skull Candy product I saw advertised:  Crusher headphones and earphones, with the tagline "Bass You Can Feel."

I guess this is more along the lines of bass you can see.

How do you get paintings up on to DvA with losing detail?

This was a lot like how I felt when I was younger, and indeed even now once in a while :) To cover yourself in music, make it all disappear for a little while...
Thank you for this and everything else you have created!

I loved the headphone series. This is so vastly different from those paintings. I love how the swirls distort the neck. And the little gears are great.

I love this, the colors and the visual sound. The gears make think that she too is thinking while she listens.

I think I remember that series you did 10 years ago. I might even have some copies I grabbed from your site back then lying around on an old hard drive somewhere. Quality stuff, Aaron. :)
