Devious Journal Entry

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 15, 2010, 2:07 AM

Firstly, sorry for being so neglectful with my DA journal, I've decided to update it now everytime I update my website, just with the same text. I hate reusing the same material, but it beats not having a DA journal, and at least this way, I can get some feedback from it, as I never know who, if anyone, looks at my website haha.

So, here we go...

Howdy doody doods and doodettes,

Well, time has come for another Supanova!! So this week, I'll be headed to Sydney to partake in the super awesome fun! I can't wait to once again be immersed in geek-culture and the wonderful types of people that are also excited to be part of it. I must admit, however, my favourite part of the shows, are the awesome cosplayers!! In the past year, I have made sooo many wonderful new friends out of them. You are all beautiful!

If you will be at the show, please stop by at my stall and say hello, or... even... buy something? Have a watch of this movie www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLWUpu…, to witness all the fun that was had at last year's convention in Sydney. (And also see how much of a clown I am :P)

After Sydney, I shall be heading to Melbourne once again! This time, I'll be attending the Tim Burton exhibition. (That's the thing I'm using as an excuse to justify me going there again ;D) I've heard that Mr. Burton himself will be there, so I'm making it my business to be in the same place at the same time. I'm hoping to give him a bunch of stuff, and let him know about the existence of MickMacks, so wish me luck. I'm so excited, just to meet him. His exhibition will also be so inspiring, to see where he started, and how far he has come. (I wanna be just like him)

OK, enough gushing. Oh crap, I'm totally gona collapse into a jibbering jelly-sack of goo in front of him. Remembering/being able to speak is only half the challenge, once I overcome that, I also have to make sure what I do say is atleeast understandable, if not a barrage of disjointed jibberish...

Anyway, I'm very excited about the near future to say the least, I hope I can catch up with all my interstate friends once again, and have a blast!!

J.

2010 a spaced out odd-yssey

Journal Entry: Fri Jan 8, 2010, 3:40 AM

Hi!!

First of all, a very big thank you to all of my beloved watchers, you mean so much to me. :tighthug:

Secondly a big thank you to DA for the DD I got on BD (Boxing day) that increased my pageview immensely :tighthug:

Now, down to the chunky-style gravy coated meaty parts of this journal...

Well, where do I begin? -It's been quite a rough entrance into the new year for me, I feel I have entered a whole new realm of strange reality, that I will never return from. As foreign as it's all been for me, I do know that it's necessary to pass through if I want to get where I want be.

Obsessive fans (borderline stalkers), hackers, comissions, gettin' laid, gettin' bashed, fucked up dreams that make me question reality and myself (even more than usual), new friends, new enemies, new artworks, lonliness and paranoia, fear and loathing, and a Daily Deviation in a pear tree, all the while trying to hold onto what little remnants of sanity I have left...

(I lie, I didn't get laid) ...Also I've been constantly plagued with the feeling that I've forgotten something important...

The animation I've been working on for a few months is finally complete and ready to thrill your eyeballs. It's called Poison TV. I hope you all like. It's the one that 'Flying Diseased Pig' was made for, although, it only has a tiny role.

Please watch, and please leave comments. Unfortunately, the video quality was raped by YouTube, however, I will be releasing it on DVD (with other stuff) in the very near future

Well, that's all (for now) folks! Hope you enjoy PoisonTV, and I hope you all have a very awesome year 2010!!

Halloween Hijinx!!!

Journal Entry: Sun Nov 1, 2009, 11:40 PM

Hi everyone, hope you all had a wonderful All Hallow's Eve.

:pumpkin::skull::pumpkin::skull::pumpkin::skull::pumpkin::skull::pumpkin::skull::pumpkin::skull::pumpkin::skull::pumpkin::skull::pumpkin::skull::pumpkin::skull::pumpkin::skull::pumpkin::skull:

Although the daytime was filled with hiccups and disappointments for me, my night turned out pretty damn good!

First and foremost, I must apologise to all the people who I told I'd meet at Under the Blue Moon. Most especially :icongoodnight-sweetheart: :iconkierrathorn: and :iconbuzzlightgirl:

Alright then... Here's the story, it's long, but just considered it as a story from MickMacks that I'm giving you for free! :D

...picture this if you will...

My original plan was to travel to Sydney for 2 nights to attend the Under the Blue Moon Festival for Halloween. I had a specific plan for a costume and people to meet and everything. And I had a specific mission to document everything with photographs.

-But to attain a true grasp of the situatuion, we must go back in time the 2 nights before Halloween itself. I seemed to be suffering from the mother of all insomniac spells, my mind was overly active all night and I got not a wink of sleep. And I had to travel to Sydney by bus later in the day.

Friday 30th of October. -Devil's Night;
I managed to get to the bus all packed and ready with no problems. After 3 hours trapped in the same chair, inside the bus, doing nothing but watch BrainTV and keep myself filled with the caffeine and sugar-free chemical based cocktail, a nectar of life called coffee and Coke Zero, (not together.), to which I have become accustomed to rely, nay, live on.
I was to meet up with my friend. At a pub. Although I had foreseen the potential dangers of meeting at a pub and waiting there for my friend until he finished recording, especially in my sleep deprived (not to mention, freshly paid and over caffeinated) state, but it was the whim of the universe, and if I wanted to maintain a strict agenda, I could not oppose it. So, yeah. Went to the Pub.

At the pub, my friend saw some of his friends. We sat down and started talking, as ya do. We started having a few drinks, as ya do. My friend had to go off to record some tracks for his band, so I was left there with some new friends who seemed pretty cool.

As it turned out, they were all artists, in their own way (ha! -Aren't we all!) but seriously, they gave me their details and are able to hook me up with a bunch of cool stuff. (in terms of business opportuniies and contacts.) Well, while we waited 2 hours for the recording, we, at the pub, continued talking and having more drinks, as ya do.

Needless to say, by the time my friend came back, we'd all have a few >ahem< beers (and tequila, chartreuse and absinthe... and not to mention... you get the picture.) They took me up to and through this crazy apartment building, of which every square inch of wall space, doors, everything of every floor to the top, was covered in absolutely insane spraypaint art!

(Now, at this point, I like to point out an amusing anecdote, or atleast provide some food for thought if you'd care to indulge me) I just came from the vast nothingness filled void-like 'dead-zone' of Canberra, to the crazy Mind/reality-fuck of the city Sydney, which I am now %100 convinced is truly the Matrix (for many reasons). Fucked off my head, on zero sleep.
I'm someone who draws cartoons for a living and live in my own world of cartoons. (To go deeper, not only that, but I write comics that are about a character that gets lost in his own world of cartoons) For me to come in to this building, which was truly a real-world cartoon world (I say 'real-world' but I really do know it's the Matrix, and blah blah blah) -was absolutely mind-boggling for me!

Saturday 31st of October. Halloween;

The previous night had been fan bigger than I had thought, and thusly, I slept in too late. So many problems during the daytime, I seemed to have somehow lost my phone charger (I thought I'd left it here in Canberra, but I still have yet to locate it.) I also had no internet access. Meaning I had no sense of time or means of communication to anymone else. To make matters worse I realised that at no point during this whole build-up of halloween excitement, had I actually bothered to write down the address of this darn festival.

Anyway, I started constructing my costume, while steadily keeping up my levels of the hair of the dog. After a few hours, I was done and ready to go out. (And my costume looked really cool btw) -But Alas, at this point, the festival was obviously over. I must admit I didn't exactly agree with the idea of a day-time goth/vampire/Halloween festival (Especially one called 'Under the Blue MOON' no less!) anyway.

So, all dressed (and liquored) up, but with nowhere to go, we went and had a look around the city. We went to where the festival was held, but nothing. It took us ages to even see anyone in a Halloween costume! We finally decided to step into the pub with the most Halloweeners as we could find.

At first I was apprehensive, because I seemed to be the only person in such a level of costume (most people were plain-clothed). But it was a blast! Everybody loved my costume! So I started talking with some people and having some more drinks, as ya do.

So, Although I never made it to the Under the Blue Moon, I still hand a really great time in the end. It was however, a real shotgun to the face of new experiences all happening at once. The whole time, I had been adamantly taking photos, documenting it all.

It was also an extremely close shave of getting back home, running on the razor's edge through insurmountable odds, relay from one side of the Matrix to the other, and back again, against the clock, just making the bus in the nick of time. -But that's a story for a different time...

Even with all this stress, I seemed to have made it in and out alive, have a great time, meet a bunch of new people and contacts, survive with tales to tell, but above all, a crapload of pictures on my camera, (Some are quite good too, if I don't say so myself!),  back home sweet home. Alive and well. Safe and Sound.

Then when I tried to plug my camera into my computer, the fuckin' input jack deciced to break. So now, I've still got the photos, but no way to get them from that camera. Just when I thought I managed to get through the entire rushed ordeal without the universe shitting on me too badly, (It did, but it kinda balanced it back out in other ways) I Unfortunately, have nothing to show in terms of photos at this point, so all my diligence was in vein (haha, get it? Vein? Vampir... >ahem<) -but I am working on that.

Also if there're any of you that think that I intentionally did not show up to offend you personally, please, I don't do stuff like that, so there's no need to jump to conclusions, OK?

By the way, Happy Day of the Dead!! (that's today!) Ugh... Although I'd like to, I don't think I've got the inclination anymore to do a costume for this one.

J.

Back from the Matrix

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 29, 2009, 6:39 PM

Hi everybody!!!

Well, I'm back from Sydney (which I call Matrix Land) from a very fun and profitable Supanova (which is a big comic/pop culture convention) where I had the pleasure of meeting :icontarla-trent: :icongoodnight-sweetheart: and :iconkierrathorn: who were all very lovely.

Here's a link to some photos taken at all three shows (Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney)www.facebook.com/pages/Mick-Ma… -Also, become a fan of MickMacks while you're there! Do it NOW!

NOW! NOW! NOW! NOW! NOW! NOW! NOW! NOW! NOW! NOW! NOW! NOW! NOW! NOW! NOW! NOW! NOW!

...please.

Soon, I will put a video of my Sydney Supanova adventures up onto Youtube, once I edit/post-produce it, and give it the MickMacks touch. (even though I'm still on probation for that touching - Just kidding - I got away scott-free - just kidding again, I don't touch people in ways they don't like, -OK good! Keep it together Jarrod, keep the lame jokes under control.)

Uh... where was I? Oh yeah, unfortunately, my website is down temporarily, sorry! How could the timing be worse? all the business cards I handed out at the show, told people to go to it, where they could find links to this DA account, and all my other internet stuff. -So therefore all my business has been cut off at the hard-line. -The universe is gonna pay for that one.

And I also learned that the maze in the MickMacks Activity Book is not possible to complete (just go 'round the outside) and there is a double-up of pages in the new SRP book. The individuals responsible for these errors have been painfully executed and subsequently fired. (We at MickMacks do this because we value our customers' patronage, and we care about people) -so, with any luck, their families will starve and die of grief, leaving no seeds of incompetence behind.

So, that's all for now,
Spread the love (all over your face!!! AAH-HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! -Ooh sorry, that was terrible! -Bad Jarrod!!- What did I just say?!)

Gona go now, before things get worse,
Seeya,
:iconjarrrodelvin:
