Help Save The Alien

Mon Sep 5, 2005, 12:25 AM
The legal battle that is going to ensue between myself, the Yellow Alien, and the Black Ninja, aka Angelo Sotira, is going to be costly.  Lawsuits are never cheap.  While Angelo has the ability to make use of any, and all, deviantART revenue generated from subscription purchases, print purchases, and more, in order to protect "the corporation" I do not have an "unlimited" budget at my disposal.

All the support that the community has offered up until this point is more the greatly appreciated.  I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love that has graced deviantART as a result of my involuntary termination. It is with great hesitation that I now ask the community for more help; this time help in a more material sense.

If you are interested in helping then please offer what you can.  No pressure on anyone whatsoever.  Those that help will have their names listed on the donation page, should they desire, in order to depict the actual number of people that are willing to help contribute to a legal resolution. Of course, should you desire to remain anonymous then I will most definitely respect your wishes.

Even if you are unable to donate please spread the word.  All help in this effort will not go unnoticed!

Please click the image below if you are interested in making a donation. Should you experience issues with that then please let me know.

Thank you, to each and every one of you that do decide to help support this noble cause!

BTW, if you do donate then please leave me a note or comment with your full name so that I can update the donation page with a link back to your user page!

Much love to chezza-t18 for allowing the use of her deviation as part of this effort.

Jark, I wish I could support you financialy but I'm just a 15 year old with no job. I would like you to know you have my full support.

You say so often how much you care about the community, and the deviants that make it up, right?

Tell *miette that you care more about some petty feud than helping rebuild her city. Tell =cajunbaby that you feel like people's money would be better spent on legal fees than getting his house back. Tell =hansepe that you're more important than all the people without food or shelter.

I've lost a lot of respect for you as a person, Scott. I really have.
jark Featured By Owner Sep 13, 2005
I only opened the fund because I was getting hundreds of people asking me how to donate and offer funds. It was not an easy decision but, ultimately, one that I made because of the outpouring of support offered.

Feel free to disagree with it all you want.

Lastly, you make it sound as if people are incapable of supporting more than 1 cause. Most folks are intelligent enough to make decisions on their own and will, ultimately, support everything they can. Life is not so black and white, as you obviously believe it to be.
blanked Featured By Owner Sep 13, 2005
I never said it was black and white. Your failure to even so much as mention that people should donate money to the Red Cross and other charities is what I have a problem with.

From reading your journals, you sound like a self-absorbed egotist with little to no care for others. Mind you, I only have your journals to go on, but if you would like to prove me wrong, I certainly wouldn't stop you.

My point is that you could have asked people to support both things. Yes, I know that you don't have a major corporation's budget at your disposal, and yes, I know, lawsuits are expensive. I wouldn't have even thought that you were a bad person at all if you had a journal entry with a plea for donations to both the Red Cross (hell, I'd even think you a good person if you said to donate to them first, and then give whatever else could be spared to your cause) and to your legal fees. I know people can think for themselves and can decide what to donate to, but your complete lack of recognition of the disaster on the Gulf Coast is the problem I have with you right now.

You are sadly misinformed. [link] was written almost 2 weeks ago.

Wow, you were able to ascertain that I am a "self-absorbed egotist with little to no care for others" simply from my journals? I somehow doubt that you have been paying strict attention to my journals for longer than the past 2 months. Had you been then you would be in a better position to judge the type of person I am.

Do you remember when I posted a journal entry and Hot Topic about the tsunami victims? I bet that you did not read the comments that I have left regarding my own donations to the Red Cross.
blanked Featured By Owner Sep 14, 2005
I did say that I had only based what I was thinking on your journals. I don't regularly read your blog, and if I had, I would've never posted the previous comments.

And yes, I did see the tsunami victim hot topic. And yes, I know you supported that cause. Good for you. That was before you were fired, though, and since you were fired, it seems all you ever mention is the fact that you got fired and how much of an injustice it was.

My first comment was just stating my distaste with your lack of acknowledgement for the hurricane victims, as more than one of my friends is now homeless. You've shown that you do actually care with the blog entry, and I hadn't seen that before. I retract some of my vitriol, but not all.

I have to admit that your use of the word "noble" in this journal threw me a bit. I think maybe it's a cultural difference; in Australia, people that describe themselves or their issues in this sort of way get slammed hard for being egotistical, having tickets on themselves, whatever.

Just a passing observation. Good luck.

my membership ran out, and it's not getting renewed. i've also dropped all of my prints to their production cost, so deviantart isn't making any money that way either (it's not like anyone buys them anyways). i did this a while back, too. i don't feel right sending money to the current administration here.

i think other people should do the same, really. it'd be an effective protest.

Nn. I'm sorry...I'm a young teen, and I would totally donate money if I could, but this isn't a "worthy enough cause" for my mum to pull out her credit card. >_< Forgive me.

I will most definitely spread the word!
itsmejesse Featured By Owner Sep 7, 2005
I will donate just as soon as I get money back for my returned textbook.

There's one thing, though... Paypal has proven itself to be highly unreliable and almost evil in the past few days. Are there any alternative routes to get the money to you?

I mean, I have no problems sending money to you, but I worry that you wont be able to access it if this drive is especially successful and prompts Paypal to freeze your account.

Also, perhaps it would be useful to note that debit cards can be used to donate as well as credit cards. Lots of people seem to not be familiar with the Paypal system, and lots of people have debit cards.

it kinda saddens me to see that this has fallen to the level of a legal battle...that just seems rather....un-devious?
i don't know.
but, maybe when i get my tuition payed, and a little bit of money put down on the little plastic money-eater that is citibank, the paypal faery(oh god, why am i spelling the word like that now?)shall have something for you.

I'd like to help materially, but I don't even have bank account and credit card, not to mention money on them ^^;

But I'd like at least to put this button on my page, maybe someone else could be able to help. But then, you have to tell me, how I can do this, because I don't have a clue...

What's more, can you help me and tell me, wheather is there a way to put my deviation in journal for example... You see, I've made an emoticon and I'd like to be able to use it. Must I be subscribbed for that? I saw some people doing emoticons fro them, which were working.... :((((( What can I do, please hepl me!!!
