Well I've decided to go back to older concepts and clean them up. First is my Bleach OC, who I felt was good, but not great, and simply needed a bit more work to look fully fleshed out.

Just to recap who he is, his name is Mazo Itasachi (Itasachi Mazo for english dub lol) and hes a seated officer from the Second Division and specializes in hand-to-hand combat and zanjutsu.

Now for the fun stuff!

Zanpakuto Info:

Karyuudo- Hunter

Shikai (Initial Release): Nintai Karyuudo - Patient Hunter

Release Command: kami no gouman ni hitaru - Revel in the Hubris of God

Special Ability: The initial release is completely unassuming in that the only change is the blade takes on a dull teal color. Part of the reason is to lure an opponent into a false sense empowerment over Itasachi thinking the shikai is a dud. What Nintai Karyuudo ACTUALLY does is it "records and analyzes" the amount of damage Itasachi takes in battle and feeds Itasachi reiatsu proportionate to that damage.

In lamens terms, the blade empowers the weilder based on how badly he ALLOWS himself to get fucked up. Which is why during combat, he lets his enemies kick his ass (he avoids taking fatal hits of course) to stockpile reiatsu for his bankai.


Bankai (Final Release): Banjin Karyuudo - Berserk Hunter

Appearannce and Abilities: The sword and all of reiatsu stored inside of the blade during shikai fuses with Itasachi, taking on the form of massive bladed hawk-wings that stick out of his back, as well has talon-like gauntlets mounted on his forearms - giving him the appearance of an metallic archangel (guess where the inspiration came from :D) Any and all wounds taken during Shikai are instantly healed, and Itasachi's body becomes heavily reinforced and highly resistant to damage. The wings can either perform actions instinctually or voluntarily, and serve to grant flight and additional defense when used for blocking. Shards can be launched from the wings as projectiles and their density and penetration are affected by the absorption effects during shikai.

The strength of the bankai is dependent on how much damage was sustained during Shikai and affects every ability granted from the release. Itasachi's speed, strength and agility are greatly enhanced at baseline, but are greatly enhanced further by the special effects of Karyuudo's shikai.

Notes: As you can tell the Bankai and Shikai are highly dependent on one another, where one can only reach its full potential based on the other. The first release is based on the stalking of a predator, where it allows itself to take hits and wounds to lure out its prey thinking the hunter is weak. The Bankai is based around when the predator had led its prey where it wants it, and finally strikes with a brutal finality.

The character design revoles around the fact that he needs to take a relatively royal ass-whoopin in his Shikai mode to kick ass in Bankai- thus all the bandages and such. In additiona, since hes all about hand-to-hand combat, I designed his uniform to support that idea with more reasonable footwear and less baggy activewear.

Sorry about the drawn out description, I figured it was better to put it here than to put it in my artwork as a visual distraction lol.

hey thanks man. yeah I spent most of my time trying to figure out his "gimmick." I kept thinking of something that hasn't really been used in Bleach yet, as far as sword releases were concerned, and from there I just built him up. Then it just speedballed from there.
