Assassin's Creed Jedi Concept by Jarein Assassin's Creed Jedi Concept by Jarein
A few months back, I posted what is probably my most popular amalgam/crossover OC in my entire catalog, my Assassins's Creed x Star Wars character, Quintus Katarn.

I learned by the mistakes of George Lucas, that you should NEVER alter or change anything in your work if people like it the way it is. But I've always wanted to revisit the concept, and "enhance" my idea and fully flesh out the design.

I always liked the dynamic pose of the original, but I found it far too dynamic as concept art, so I opted to tone down the action a bit, and establish a more intense and stoic posture - like he staring down his opponent in a battle. I also utilized better rendering and scaling techniques that I've accumulated since then, smoothing the roughness and anatomical inconsistencies that alot of my early work had.

As I mentioned with the Lucas reference, Katarn's look remains virtually unchanged, aside from a few minor changes. The red wrap under his thoracic leather armor has a similar draping strap like the one on Altair's uniform, and his footwear is now a less rigid and more loose dark leather affixed with bindings - I felt it more Jedi-like.

And to recap his backstory, this character is the ancestor of Kyle Katarn, who lived during the age of the second Sith/Republic war (The Old Republic MMO storyline). If theres enough interest, I can write his full backstory and post it on here, just let me know in a comment below.

So, what does everyone think? Better? Worse?

I used this image to visually represent a Knight of Zakuul in the Rebel Alliance named Cassius Zaldren.

If it aint broke, don’t fix it…good call man.

LOVE the work!

Kyle Katarn is one of my fave characters.

I would love to see you draw the lightsaber alone to show off the combination work you did putting together a lightsaber hilt and the hilt of the Assassin’s Creed sword

Sure I can do that. It was actually a far simpler process than one might think. I just amalgamated the hilt into something simplistic directly from Altair's final sword from the original AC. I also decided to revise this concept with more emboss detail on the leather plates, and using the white robes. If anything, the white is alot more sensible for his backstory that I'm going to finish writing soon. I figure, it helps establish continuity.

Awesome job! I very much like this design. Does he still have a hidden blade as well?

He does, but I chose just to leave it in its hidden state since having his arm out like before on my first concept was a bit too awkward. Thanks for the positive comment!

No worries. He's definitely awesome! I guess that in order to see the hidden blade we'll just have to wait for an action shot! :)

Thanks man! Yea I was concerned people wouldn't like it since it wasn't as dynamic as the first one, but I'm glad you like how everything turned out. As always, I appreciate your positive critiques.
