This is some awesome artwork. I did however have a question.

I noticed a company called Timewalk Games is currently using this artwork. I was wondering if they had permission, or if you were even aware of it. I'm trying to figure out if they blatantly steal art or not. A lot of the art they use seems to be taken from dA and such.

If you don't know, Timewalk is a company that makes reproduction SNES/NES games. They make a poster, manual, label for the game, box, everything. In this case, this specific picture was used in the manual. I don't own it myself, but you can easily find some unboxing videos of the game on youtube by searching "Timewalk games metroid redesign". One by this "HorriblePodcast" person shows it well at around 3:55. They also used other people's art for the Poster and other parts of the manual, which I didn't see credit for either.

It wouldn't bother me so much, except for the fact that they're selling their games(with boxes/manuals/posters) for like $90.

Hi man, thanks for the comment
I didnt know about this Timewalk company :( they never contacted me or anything :-/
thanks for the notice...

I'm not a greede person, but at last I'd like to have some credit... and if they are making big money well, maybe it's ok to look for a royalty of the image use... I dont know, also I do not live in the US
any advice?

dude, send them an email asking for restitution or at least proper crediting for your artwork, and if they say otherwise, raise hell about it. Make posts detailing the problem on social media, they stole your artwork and are making money of something YOU made without permission, i think at that point it would be more than fair to tarnish the shit out of their image.

we share a couple of emails, the guy is kind and respectful, it really is a very indie and low profile project, and he says that will add the propper credit into the booklets and send me a copy...
it's been a while and not recieved anything tough, but have been too busy to start a fight or anything :/
thanks for your feedback :)

Honestly, I have no idea what to do. I've never had this problem, sorry. If the drawing has any kind of copyright, I'd suggest at least looking up Timewalk and trying to talk to them nicely about it. If they don't wanna be nice about it, then it might be worth contacting some kind of 'legal' person. You may or may not mind them using it, but even so, they technically SHOULDN'T be using it.

As far as making "big money". The full game with everything included, including the manual that has your art in it, is normally $95. And they're fairly popular, plus it's a fairly popular game, so I'm sure they're making quite a bit of money off the whole thing. The manual itself is $10.

I mean, they're not making money off of your art specifically, like..your picture isn't the selling point. It's a double page in the manual. But..it's there. No credit or payment to you for them using it. And a lot of people buy their games because of the 'quality' of the items that come with it, including the manual with the possibly stolen artwork in it.

No problem on the comment though. I just thought you'd want to know. I know having your art stolen isn't exactly fun. If it was me, I'd rather know about it, than have no idea. It just makes me wonder, how many other people they've stolen art from.
