Description
This shot was taken inside of #AngkorThom(capital city) and you are looking at the #Bayon temple which stands at the centre of Jayavarman's capital. The Bayon's most distinctive feature is the multitude of serene and smiling stone faces on the many towers which jut out from the upper terrace and cluster around its central peak. According to Angkor-scholar Maurice Glaize, the Bayon appears "as but a muddle of stones, a sort of moving chaos assaulting the sky."
To show the temple's structure and appearance I searched for a composition at the surrounding pond. We arrived just about right in order to get a good sunset picture. Luckily the weather was in our favor and the temple was lit up by the last warm evening light. Personally I think Bayon is the most impressive of all the temples and to my surprise nobody (I was literally the only one) takes images of this temple at sunset.
