It still amazes me, what watercolors can do when they are in capable hands.
The first impression is a bit unsettling, if not straight dramatic, and only then I noticed those lines dividing the whole drawing into parts. The lines look like boundaries between the states... interesting and unusual just like the strong colors you used. The woman has this half-puzzled, half-dumb expression on her face; I wonder what she's looking at and I like the way you kept her face smooth and simple, which is contrasting with that color chaos around her. For some reason - I sense war behind this picture, I don't know why. Anyway, your style is unmistakable and keep painting. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/n/n…" width="15" height="15" alt="" title="Nod"/>

This is so cool! I love that it looks like you pieced this together! It looks like a puzzle! Such a unique look! I cant believe you used water colors on this! I like that you stuck with mainly the red, white, and blue colors. The way you did the eyes looks like she is connecting with the viewer. I like the way that her hair starts to flow and is wavy, it looks natural. I notice the lips are a bit uneven on the right side but that is only thing I can find wrong with this! And even then, its a small detail. Well done!

Hi: ) I've just watched your video, your style is amazing! However, I still have a question: At the end, what did you use to add these white lines? (At the first sight, I thought you've applied some kind of crayon before you started painting, and then applied the watercolor. Now I see that drawing those lines was the last step...)

Hello,

white lines were done with white gel pen, see one of my tutorials for more on this technique ([link]. This portrait was started with a copic multiliner drawing, after I painted with watercolor and than again colorful Copic multiliners & white gel pen in the end.

My art teacher showed us this painting in class today as inspiration for our upcoming watercolor project. Most of the class was awe struck by this and tried to learn how to replicate your amazing watercolor skills. Out of all of the watercolor paintings our art teacher showed us, this was the BEST. I absolutely love it!

Oh that is a great great honor being showed as an example in a class, thank you for letting me know

I wish the best of luck to everyone in the class!

This is simply stunning. And am I imagining things or does it say "are not alone" in there? Because that was such a special treat.
jane-beata's avatar
Indeed, the whole message is "you are not alone" :)
