Watercolor Emico: Blue
So.. almost a year after I've started working on this skin the 1st style is finally done. This version contains the Blue substyles with a "Modern" and a "Classic" taskbar.
This skin is based on the skin called "Watercolor". It's a skin that was being used in the beta's of XP.
I wanted to make my own skin so tornado5 aka em3 told me that I should try and make a new version of Watercolor.
This is the outcome.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to install:
Extract the folder called "WE" to "C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes".
Right click the desktop > properties > appearance > then from the first drop select "Watercolor Emico"
From the 2nd drop downlist you can make a choice between the "Modern" and the "Classic" taskbar.
In the 3rd drop downlist you can make a choice between a "Normal" or a "Compact" start panel.
To use this theme you need to patch the Windows system file uxtheme.dll. You can read about how to do that here: [link]
"bugs" I know of:
*Some palet frames arent drawn the correct way.(Application bug)
*In some webbrowsers the buttons might be resized the wrong way. (Browser bug)
* Multi row taskbar does not look good. (Theme)
Modification:
For personal use only.

Just curious have you tried or do you know anyone who has tried sending a visual style (msstyle) to Microsoft to get it signed?... I know unsigned drivers require a hack/patch of uxtheme.dll for XP (if not windowblinds or other 3rd party desktop software), but I've only heard of about 3 (Luna, Royale and Zune) styles from microsoft themselves, and no others (including Watermark from Whistler, which is the one I personally use) that have been signed for general use on unpatched systems... afaik this should be similar to getting device drivers signed... (only microsoft don't give the user the choice to use unsigned msstyles)
Well, it's not of much use for Microsoft if other themes, besides their own, are being used. We're basically "modifying" their work. Drivers are a must for an OS to work, a visual style isn't. Therefor I know for sure that Microsoft won't be signing themes made by the public. If they did, everyone could send in requests for work that they didn't even make, or work with low quality.
I found a bug in all the themes (Blue, Ergo Blue, Black and Silver) in the window of "Search" the "Assistant search"(left side) it appears in Default color of Windows XP, I think that could be of color of theme.
I hope that you have understood me, greetings from México
I noticed this today a while ago while checking some stuff out. The shellstyle isn't made by me. Since this is a minor bug and the first notification of it, I'm gonna let it be as it is. I hope this isn't a problem for you

I change my Windows colors from time to time. Now I've found a nice orange firefox theme, but none of the emico styles fits together with the firefox theme. Primarily I miss the colors orange and violet or indigo. Perhaps also red...
It would be nice if there will be other colors in future. Currently I'm using your Emico Blue style. The blue orange combination is just okay.
Greetings
My next visual style will be the successor of Emico Blue. It'll look a lot nicer.
