Watercolor Emico: Blue

So.. almost a year after I've started working on this skin the 1st style is finally done. This version contains the Blue substyles with a "Modern" and a "Classic" taskbar.
This skin is based on the skin called "Watercolor". It's a skin that was being used in the beta's of XP.

I wanted to make my own skin so tornado5 aka em3 told me that I should try and make a new version of Watercolor.
This is the outcome.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

How to install:

Extract the folder called "WE" to "C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes".
Right click the desktop > properties > appearance > then from the first drop select "Watercolor Emico"
From the 2nd drop downlist you can make a choice between the "Modern" and the "Classic" taskbar.
In the 3rd drop downlist you can make a choice between a "Normal" or a "Compact" start panel.

To use this theme you need to patch the Windows system file uxtheme.dll. You can read about how to do that here: [link]

"bugs" I know of:
*Some palet frames arent drawn the correct way.(Application bug)
*In some webbrowsers the buttons might be resized the wrong way. (Browser bug)
* Multi row taskbar does not look good. (Theme)

Modification:
For personal use only.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bug fixes and updates:

06-06-08:
- Fixed the palet frames
- Fixed the palet caption buttons
- Fixed the black text on the side taskbars to white
- Changed the way the taskbar image is being stretched when using multiple rows.
- New toolbar and placebar images

14-06-08:
- Fixed the toolbar gripper in Blue Classic
- Fixed the vertical toolbar grippers in Blue Modern and Classic
- Fixed the placebar button in Blue Modern

16-04-09:
- Added the shellstyle

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wallpaper used in the preview is Vplants X3 004 by DJMattRicks

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Contribution:

If you feel like contributing to this skin with application skins then go ahead and make them. All you have to do is ask me for permission by email with a screenshot.
My email address is: makeshift.grey@gmail.com.

For more info about further progress, application skins etc. read the journal that I've made on deviantART: Watercolor Emico: Further progress and info

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Credits:

Credits go out to all the beta testers.
Credits also go out to tornado5 aka em3.
Thanks to Des and Scirwode for helping me out with the shellstyles.
Thanks to euphoricallydead for notifying me about some bugs after the first release.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please give me some feedback about the skin.

Can you make this for Windows 7 Please .. i Love this theme and it's was my main theme on xp .. Please make this happened <3
Jamush's avatar
Sorry, but that won't happen. First of all; this is the successor to that theme: gelosea.deviantart.com/art/Nov… - It looks way better if you ask me. Also, I stopped theming after Novus because I liked the way Windows 7 looks. The themes that I made were meant for Windows XP. If I'd make a theme for Windows 7, then I'd rather not copy what I've made in the past but start something new instead.

Thanks man for response, but i hoped to get back my xp taste at least for once,
but it's ok because i've installed xp just right now to get back my old days ;$
Sorry but i'm an xp maniac xD

Haha, I've noticed. I was planning on porting Novus to Windows 8, but then I figured the Windows 8 theme looks good enough as well, haha.

absolutely brilliant! :) btw where did you get wallpaper from? :)
Jamush's avatar
Thanks. Have you read the info underneath the screenshot?
SeaWhisper's avatar
no, there was too much text so I only browsed it ;) but I see the place I missed, thanks :D
Jamush's avatar
Read that text next time you see a deviation with it. It's to avoid annoying questions like these.
SeaWhisper's avatar
make the text shorter then everybody will read it ;)
Jamush's avatar
Right. Do you really think that I wrote all that just to entertain myself? I wrote it all down to avoid questions which I have to answer often. Yet here you are, asking something which has already been answered. So who should do what here?
SeaWhisper's avatar
Oh I know I know, just couldn't stop myself. Soooory, I'll be good. :D

Awesome skin I always loved Whistler's decorator style.. nice job...

Just curious have you tried or do you know anyone who has tried sending a visual style (msstyle) to Microsoft to get it signed?... I know unsigned drivers require a hack/patch of uxtheme.dll for XP (if not windowblinds or other 3rd party desktop software), but I've only heard of about 3 (Luna, Royale and Zune) styles from microsoft themselves, and no others (including Watermark from Whistler, which is the one I personally use) that have been signed for general use on unpatched systems... afaik this should be similar to getting device drivers signed... (only microsoft don't give the user the choice to use unsigned msstyles)

Thanks :)

Well, it's not of much use for Microsoft if other themes, besides their own, are being used. We're basically "modifying" their work. Drivers are a must for an OS to work, a visual style isn't. Therefor I know for sure that Microsoft won't be signing themes made by the public. If they did, everyone could send in requests for work that they didn't even make, or work with low quality.
