Man, I haven't done an update here in a loooong time.
What motivated me to make a new one? I just felt the need to express my opinion about the new Deviant Art logo: I don't like it. It's not going to ruin my life, but nothing about it is either familiar or inviting. It looks like a "z" or some form of currency icon from a foreign land. It also looks just like the logo for this company: platzkart.ru/
So, no. Don't care for the new logo, Deviant Art. Y'know, if my opinion matters at all. It should have a sweeping arc like the old one did, and focus on the curves of the letters instead of trying to turn them into a lightning bolt.

This weekend is Anime Weekend Atlanta!
My friend Dan Houser and I will be doing arts for people. It will be fun!
I hope to see you there.
I have lots of awesome stuff just coming up around the corner with Vigilance Press, but I've been too busy to update here as often as I should... sorry.
I should probably post during the day, when I can think of clever things to say... nitenite, folks!

Hey Gang!
No art today (Dragon Con is taking up most of my time), but I did find time to put together a podcast with author Lucien Soulban! Check it out via our Vigilance Press website... he's giving away prizes in the form of Mutants and Masterminds books, and we're adding some PDF downloads for additional prizes!

Gearing up for the next big convention stop: GEN Con Indy!
I can't wait to see all my Gen Con friends, and team up with Dan Houser for some more artworks! We'll be bringing Dan's printer and cranking out some cool color art again. For those who can't see us there, we'll be teaming up again for AWA this year as well!
This year's Gen Con will be special, because it'll be the first year I show up representing Vigilance Press as owner and publisher. I'm hoping to grab a table in the dealer's room for next year, but this year Dan and I will be once again in the Anime Artist's Alley in the hotel across from the Dealer's Room. Check your Gen Con maps!

Stalking the Halls at Anime University

JAFAX's Theme this year is "Anime University." I've been attending JAFAX here in Michigan for the past 12 years or so, and it never gets old.
This year, however, I'm not trying to sell my own wares, I'm scouting other artists. It's a strange feeling, walking through the Artist's Alley and scouting other people's art. I'm used to giving critiques and doing art trades and so forth, but this year I'm critically appraising people and gauging whether I think they'd be a good fit for a Vigilance Press product. I almost feel like an undercover agent or a truant officer, spying on all these hopefuls and trying to pick the ones who are ready to step up to the plate.
I see loads of potential everywhere I look, and a couple of artists have really caught my eye as having that level of polish I'm looking for. Here's to all the artists who are in the Alley, plying their trade, selling their wares. Good luck to you all, but most of all... have fun!!
