If I tell you I had "Funeral Pyre for a Jedi" playing while drawing that pyre on the last panel, would you guys believe me? I can't think of funeral pyres without thinking of Return of the Jedi.

I had fun with the background in this one as well. Setting the scene at night made the pyre pop out more, as well as the starfield. There's plenty of obvious symbolism here, I'll let you guys point it out in the comments if you're up for it. It is obvious, and the whole comic is chuckful of it, but it makes for interesting shots that aren't stale or generic. Gotta keep some visual stimulation here and there or else the comic feels all the same.

This is the last page we have ready at the time of submitting this, but we're currently doing two more! So stay tuned, the ending is near!

I hope you guys enjoy it. Please, feel free to share your ideas, thoughts and theories in the comments.

We do promise to get a page out each month at the very least, but there is a way you can help us with getting these out faster, and that is to support :iconrated-r-ponystar: on Patreon. He's paying for all the pages and currently is struggling to not just support this project but other art comic projects of his as well.

Every and all support is welcome.
If you donate more money to him, he can pay me for the future comic pages faster, as well as any other projects we plan on working together for such as his big project “Fallen Dusk” which you can read about on his patreon milestone goal list.

We are glad to be working on this again and we hope you guys donate so this comic can continue forward without delay.

You can check a full collection of work in progress shots on the following links: TUMBLR - SKETCHES 1 - BACKGROUND - LINEART - COLORS

Please, let me know what you think, of both this page and the series, in the comments.

At this point, I can't really see why she had to die...

Honestly, when you think about it, it was going pretty much the same way it was in the show, and they were bonding together rather well and forming a strong friendship, but as the windigos came, instead of embracing their friendship they all just went: "We can still escape! Not too far, just, like, y'know, right outside the cave, which is right where the windigos are all at... Eh, let's just figure out what to do next when we get out, aight?" And after that they were just like: "Aight, now we're totally fucked... no way out, may as well do the friendship thing no-- HOLY SHIT IT WORKED!"

I mean, it's not like they became better friends during those few moments they spent outside the cave, or that they were somehow suddenly united by Pansy's death, so why then and not earlier?

I know I'm a bit biased and am just trying to come up with scenarios that would avoid Pansy's death, but after seeing what transpired after they got out, I just can't help but feel like her death, as well as that pitiful attempt at an escape, were both incredibly unnecessary.
Well, the plan was roughly "Maybe if we teleport out we can escape. It's better than waiting in here to die." But it turns out that they couldn't.

And then them accepting that they were about to die, but at least they weren't alone seems to have been what triggered the friendship magic. Ironically, that implies that it was in a sense the hope of an escape that killed Private Pansy; if they had accepted their coming deaths in the cave they could have done this before they left Pansy behind.

"it was in a sense the hope of an escape that killed Private Pansy"

Aye, that's what bothers me the most... Rather hard for me to believe that somepony like Clover the Clever could make such a grave miscalculation.
Wouldn't you choose a small chance of escaping alive over waiting for certain death?

Not me... Not if it meant leaving behind someone dear to me.

I know these may sound like big words, but I'd rather die than build my future on the bones of my friends and family.
That's if they let you; your friends and family would of course rather be left behind than see you die alongside them.

I'd just make it simple for them and say: You can either let me die here with you, or I can just find the nearest rope and tree afterwards. (not literally, but you get the idea)

That's not Flutters; it's Private Pansy.

James just used the girls' appearances as they were in the Hearth's Warming play in Season 2.
