Ask Movie Slate - Episode 171
This was one of the most enjoyable drawings I've ever done for Ask Movie Slate. Very rarely I can step outside the boundaries set by the show itself, with very few characters that don't have the structure set for equines in that world. Even drawing alicorns doesn't pose a challenge anymore because all you have to do is just make them slightly bigger, and add an extra body part. Being able to draw a character that doesn't follow those norms was a joy, and I can't wait to draw him again (Oh yes, he is coming back for a few more updates). I spent way too much time working on those curvy horns, and adding chains all over the booth. I've put a couple of Easter eggs here and there, so I invite you guys to find them!
"Krampus" was one of the most gleefully surprising movies of the year. It wasn't really horror per-se, but it was tense enough to engage me. It felt like a Sam Raimi movie if Sam Raimi kept on making films instead of getting swallowed by the Hollywood machine. It's very creative, it has memorable characters, good acting, and it's clever enough to work even outside of the Christmas season. Plus, like every good horror movie, it's below an hour and a half in length, so it doesn't overstay its welcome and feels just right. If you want some good fantasy/horror movie that you could watch any time of the year, and you are a fan of movies such as "Evil Dead", "Gremlins" and "Drag me to Hell", definitely watch this one.
At first I thought about drawing Malice here wearing Krampus' outfit, with the lowbrow hoodie, and the hump, and everything else, but as I worked on his body structure I realized that drawing him naked was more interesting. It loses a bit of the scary impact, but I think this too creates another type of tension, that of not knowing if he is just fooling around, or something more serious. So I lifted his legs, drew him full body, wearing nothing but a top hat, and of course I had to draw his goat feet (got to have those goat feet man, they are awesome). Perhaps it turned out a bit more saucy than what I was going for at first, but that's how the character is! Plus look at all the fluff. He's a fluffy goat guy, how could I dress him up? Besides, Movie Slate is covering the important bits, right? Don't worry about her, she's fine.
I hope you guys enjoy this one, which you might as well consider the very last picture I upload in 2015! It's been one hell of a year, and I can't wait to see what 2016 has to offer. We shall start the year with some more new arts and projects!
Please, let me know what you think of it in the comments. I appreciate and every single one I receive.
Featuring: Malice, from Lil Miss Rarity (Warning: Blog features gore, violence, and adult themes - NSFW).
Thank you!

In the Krampus version of my little pony, Young Granny Smith made the mistake of wishing that her family would go away after her parents who were arguing about the farm bills being too high ripped a hole in Granny's favorite santa doll. That night in the middle of a howling Blizzard,Granny got her wish. Krampus And his minions came to the farm and dragged Granny's parents and two brothers away to hell and left behind a bell with his name on it to show Granny what happens when all hope is lost and the Christmas spirit dies.
