Up from the depths !Thirty stories high, Breathing nuclear fire, (i think) His head in the sky, it's Godzilla! Godzilla ! Godzilla!....but where's Godzookie??😥 i think Godzookie was Godzilla's Little offspring...but anyways, GODZILLA , run for the hills with no pant on !!!!

what a mammoth task drawing this gigantic prehistoric reptilian, awakened from it's dormant state, deep beneath the earth and empowered by nuclear radiation ! boom there you go ! all done....still here? ok soldier, get down and give me 20 ! i want to see sweat. don't pull the triggers on those fancy M16's until you see the Glow of that monsters eyes !

So, where, how, why and what were the reasons for Godzilla to become a world wide franchise. well let's go back in time... to the origins only briefly of course, where it all began. i mean, i'm not going to give the entire back story, i'll be here all year..

''Japanese producer'', Sci-Fi monster enthusiast, Tomoyuki Tanaka, funnily enough named the monster after a Toho Production entertainment company employee, named Shirō Amikura.

Shirō's nickname at the time was a portmanteau of japanese words - Gujira - Gojira -Gorira and Kujira, Meaning Gorilla and Whale, because Shirō Amikura looked like a Silverback hairy gorilla and had a fondness for eating whale meat. these Series of Japanese words resulted in coming up with the translation, Godzilla. This may or may not be true,, i may maybe a banana hanging from a tree, who knows, but there are conflicting stories with the origins but hey, i just go on what sounds as clear as mud to me and that origin Story is like me wearing a blindfold over my eyes and walking off a short stone pier..whilst doing the moonwalk backwards..But anyways the reasons why the Monster's name was translated into Godzilla instead of Gorilla\Whale monster, or Gorira Kujira was because of overseas distribution....and a franchise was born.

The first appearance of Godzilla was in 1954, and has been featured in over 38 movies, 33 being Japanese where Godzilla fights a series of other monsters like a giant hairy Orangutan, a radioactive lobster, a gigantic cosmic clown and tiny men all adorning extra large Mustaches in tuxedo's with spud guns..the later movie versions were good old american as apple pie made, the first being in 1998 with Matthew Broderick as the main star other than the god awful CGI version of Godzilla and Brodricks perfectly styled hair, which to me? his hair is my enemy forever more !!! luckily he wore many hats during the filming..

Even though the 1998 Movie was well received, the critics attack the monster in movie by saying, ''it was the black sheep of the Godzilla\Kaiju legacy'' mainly down to Godzillas design, which really steered away from the classic Godzilla look and more T-Rex Jurassic park. Later American versions however have been successful with getting Godzilla's appearance looking more Authentic and not looking like a cross between a Giant Gamel and a Komodo Dragon.

'Characterization\concept\design''

So Godzilla's exact Characteristic origins vary from this to that and the other, but Godzilla is generally depicted as an enormous, Violent gigantic, Reptilian monster from the prehistoric age, That becomes empowered by nuclear Radiation as stated. big pointy teeth, loves whale meat and chewing on a human now and then, basically Godzilla's attributes are combined with a T-rex, Iguanodon, stegosaurus and an alligator, i often ask? what about the Gorilla ellement? but anyways..well Godzilla fights King Kong right? Godzilla is an Amphibian with scaly skin !....ok, i'll rap this part up and upset many by saying the whole idea was plagiarised, yes Godzilla is not original, The very talented and master animator Ray Harryhausen Created a fictional monster called the Rhedosaurus for a film called Beast from 20'000 fathoms but honestly, everybody does copy right? so yes Godzilla and the design lastly, with an erect standing posture, an anthropomorphic torso with muscular arms, lobed bony plates along its back and tail and a furrowed brow...i like peeking behind rocks and looking at picnickers from a far, slobbering over what they are eating.

Quick brief on the Nuclear element of Godzilla and a serious point here, Godzilla's Nuclear empowerment idea was Carefully implement into the Characteristics in relation to the Atomic bomb. The reptilian skin texture on the original Godzilla designs were inspired by the Keloid scars on the Survivors of Hiroshima.

So the drawing, i created. Firstly, i'd like to thank,
X-e-B-e-X https://www.deviantart.com/x-e-b-e-x who steered me towards Drawing Godzilla, a very good sketch artist with some very good creative arts i enjoy as i do with many artists i follow on here so thanks man.

9 days in, which usually is the length of time on and off it takes for me to create such a detailed fine line hatch drawing and no easy task, it's all done with perfection, it's all i know really. how to draw realism, if not, then i my as well join a traveling freak show as the beaded 2 head lady from mars. but anyways, Yes, fine line hatching, many many hours of drawing line after line after line, highlights, shadow, midtones, and patterns within the feature and yes, following references does make life a lot easier because i haven't drawn Godzilla or any type of reptile at this level before...i like peeling spuds....KP style of course ! sir yes sir !

That's all i have...good day.

Oh the helicopter? well i thought you'd never ask ! it's one of my favourite types, the Wessex Whirlwind. Completely out of place in this scene but hey, i wanted a classic looking Helicopter. Drawing Aircraft in general is not my thing but i do like to draw them one in a blue moons.

That's really all i have...See yah.....

Well this Version of Godzilla i drew here is a more modern version but still will a Classic look with those types of Keloid scars. referenced of course. if i could draw Godzilla from the mind, i'd be Da Vinci.

Oh good we are all done. you know i like you but please....

From King Kong to Godzilla is a short step, the two then clashed in many films, I believe that one of the reasons for the great success, especially at the beginning in 1954, was that it was the unconscious representation of the fear of the atomic bomb that the Japanese had unfortunately experienced for real, and this huge monster that arrives and destroys cities is the symbolic representation of this
