This is such a beautiful photo by Cathleen Tarawhiti and so reminiscent of a classical portrait pose that I just had to have a try at producing a version of it as if it had been painted centuries ago complete with a 'sfumato' or 'smoke' effect and also distressed with paint cracks etc. Incidentally Cathleen recently received a DD for one of the photos in this amazing series, deservedly so.

This is such a unique piece.  I think you've expanded digital oil portrait excellence with a fresh new take on how the viewer feels transported into another century.  The texture is fantastic!  Most excellent!

Actually gives that eerie feeling, like those haunted movies that you know when you see the pict and you go - uh oh, she is gonna get yer!

Ha now I suppose I see what you mean, but I think she's far to beautiful and serene to be evil!

Hahaha... I am sure she is and I have seen the pict.
It is more like my own imagination running wild coz of watching too many horrors!

That's amazing! I love the look of old paintings by the masters that show there age.

I got a rare chance to see a rembrant  self portrait on loan from the Lovre . I just sat there and gazed at it for over an hr. You could see the paint srtokes, and cracks, the years of wear. Once in a lifetime chance. Now I don't know which version of your piece I like better!!! Amazing work!!

Rock On!!!

I know what you mean about viewing the old masters Brian, I visit loads of art galleries and museums and just stare in awe for hours, they are something else! Thanks for your comment buddy! :)
