01 - WINTER AFTERMATHWINTER AFTERMATH
Outside the motel, the cold hadn't been so bad in fifty years. I missed the sun, the warm rays shining down on our faces, the comfortable breeze, and the sounds of streams; especially the streams. All of that's gone now.
Chrono, my baby boy, slept on the bed. A unique name for a child, I know, but I named him after time because that's all we had left; time.
Outside the window, a thin layer of snow covered the parking lot. Cars remained parked in every spot but one; left alone for years. Down below in the cities, the monsters ruled. They roughly number what the human population had been at during the time of the viral outbreak.
Like a flash, they came.
We'd just turned the calendars at the start of 2021, and I lived in Los Angeles, California, the ‘City of Angels'. My boyfriend, Zach and I were at Magic Hills, the favorite amusement

I grew up afraid of such storms. Ones where lightning struck and ravaged the land as if some great beast tore away at the world's flesh. A huge difference separated those in the past from the ones now. The old were the stuff of nightmares and these, the ones roaring outside my window, were happening.
Still, at seventeen years old I still feared such storms, the booming thunder, the snaking lightning, and the howling wind. This time, the wind remained silent. There hadn't been any wind in over a month; not even the slightest gust.
Laying in my bed that night, I had the sheets up to my nose; I clutched an heirloom in my hands. A dark red crystal, the warmth of which would keep me safe. At the very least it made me feel safe. That night, like every night, since the wind died, it was glowing warm, causing my palms to sweat.
The crystal had been in my possess

CHAPTER 01 – NIGHT N DAY
Onett, a small town in Eagleland…
The world was shaking. I tried to keep my eyes shut. I rolled over, doing my best to go back to sleep. The world was still shaking. I must have had too much soda to drink the night before. I squeezed my eyes harder, but the world continued to shake.
An explosion rocked the night and suddenly light was everywhere. My eyes were still closed but I could still see. The brightness was absolutely unreal.
“Holy crap, what was that!?” I whispered to myself, the night having gone silent.
I sat straight up and looked at my alarm clock. The orange numbers flashed 12:00am, the power must have gon

MOMENT 01: MAGNA-RACHA
Loud Cheering; that’s what brought me back. I could hear loud cheering. Opening my eyes, I couldn't see; only blackness existed. I felt around with my fingers, finding thick dirt surrounding me. Panic set in. Did they bury me alive?
“H-help!” I tried to cry, but my voice came out muffled.
I did my best to claw my way out, but something heavy pinned my arm, and I didn't have the energy to dig. Taking a small breath, I tried to stay calm. Thinking would save my life; freaking out would end it.
In my mind, I pictured my mom. She lay passed out on the couch, groaning in her sleep. That's how she spent most of her time; one side effect of the pain meds. She spent every day with chronic pain from an accident in her youth. In that state, she wouldn't be awake for days.
I cut off that line of thought. Memories of her wouldn’t help me. I ne

LINK 01: (JACOB) CHAINS THAT BIND
Every desk in the room jolted out of place, sending several students to the floor. The room continued to shake, and cries rang out across the class. Ms. Fumal, our homeroom teacher shouted, "Everyone under their desks, now!"
Adjusting my jacket sleeves, I watched as mostly everyone did as she said. To my left, my pink-haired vixen, Vale, screeched and covered her head. On my right, the nerd, Fletch also cried and cowered. Only my buddy Azen and I stayed in our seats, calmly waiting for the tremor to end. Earthquakes didn't scare me. Nothing scared me.
"So how was your day?" Azen chuckled from the seat behind me.
"Boring!" I sighed and leaned back in my seat. Markers fell from the whiteboard tray and clattered to the floor, and the clock even fell off the wall.
Finally, after half a minute or so, the shaking stopped. My b
