Welcome back to the Prehistoric Safari Series, you're now witnessing the scene at La Brea, California about 20000 years ago.

An adult Columbian mammoth(Mammuthus columbi) has been stuck in one of those famous tar pits and quickly surrounded by local large carnivores: a pair of gigantic pantherine cat, Panthera atrox which is notable for the size and faint rosset markings(my original design) in front of us, and Dire wolves(Canis dirus) on the other side of the tar pond. Smilodon fatalis are sure to be on the site soon.
A nearly 10 ton male Columbian mommoth is hastening to the spot in time for guarding his pal but to help him escape from the infamous muddy trap seems to be difficult.
Innumerable pleistocene creatures met their end as a result of being trapped in La Brea's tar pits in similar manner and tens of thousands of remarkably well preserved bones are left intact as a result.

Awesome! Are the p.atrox supposed to be lions or a jaguars?
