Tutorial: Placing object in MB3D without 3D Navi

This is just little extension of phoenixkeyblack tutorial on how to handle your balls <da:thumb id="478287380">

When I was working on my recent work I was struggling with some problems as I wasn't able to use the 3D Navigator as the formula was apparently too complicated so nothing was shown there. This procedure might be used even when 3D Navigator is working for you, it should save you some time and you don't need to play with the scrolls that much.

diky za uzitecny doplnek k umistovani difsu :)

moje zkusenost je, ze u sfer to jeste neni takovy problem, ale uz citrus mi dela mnohem vetsi potize, nemluve o spirale, tam uz jen experimentuji a trapim se v navigatoru. asi je to dano tim, kde ktery tvar ma "stred", resp. "nulovy bod", "pocatek" nebo jak to nazvat - u koule je to jasne, ale u nepravidelnych tvaru? mas s tim nejakou vetsi zkusenost?

Je pravda ze vetsinou pouzivam jen kouli nebo objekty na bazi koule. Bude to rozhodne tak jak pises s tim pocatecnim bodem. Predpokladam ze i slozitejsi objekty budou na bazi zakladnich objektu jako valec, krychle atp. jen se budou nejak orezavat, takze jde jen o to zjistit kde je umisten ten pocatecni bod a metoda vykreslovani. Bohuzel zrovna ted nemuzu tuto hypotezu vyzkouset ale mozna muze byt neco i v infu pro danou formulku (u dIFS by tam snad nemusel byt tak tezky vzorec jako u jinych formulek :) ).

Jen co rozchodim wifi a nainstaluju wine tak kdyztak dopisu dodatek k tomuto tutorialu (samozrejme za predpokladu ze na to prijdu :D )

ahoj,
jsem se vcera snazil do starsiho kousku (menger & co.) nacpat hmcylinder, ale hledal jsem ho pak marne. skvele by pro me bylo pochopit aspon klasickou height mapu (coz je, tak me napada plocha nebo poloprostor?)... byla na dohled, ale to finalni dootoceni je nad moje sily :D jo, dobre se mi difsy michaji s asurfy - ta plocha je pomerne prehledna, da se vyzoomovat, zorientovat a zajet zpet. ps: jeste jednou dik za tut.

Jejda, porad je to na mem seznamu a jeste jsem se k tomu nedostal :( Kazdopadne s obycejnou HM jsem si hral ted nedavno a trochu me tam matlo ze rotace je podle a,b,c a ne x,y,z, takze to zjevne bude zalezet na jinem bode nez je pocatek souradnicoveho systemu (asi se zase dostavame k pocatecnimu bodu ktery bude jinak pro kazdy objekt).

Musim priznat ze s tou plochou a poloplochou si me dostal, uz jsem dlouho ze skoly tak sem si musel definici poloprostoru najit. Co se tyka HM tak bych rek ze to bude spis kvadr, prece jen jde o 3D prostor. Neni to nekonecny prostor, takze poloprostor by byl asi blizko. Mozna to nastaveni offsetu jsou soradnice pocatku nebo bodu poloplochy, ktery se pak pro ten objekt bere jako pocatecni bod souradnicoveho systemu (ted si to zrovna nemuzu overit, jsem jen na tabletu)?

I am so often 'loosing' objects and it's taking me a lot of time aligning them, especially in the formulae that do not go well together with the nav window! This is a much more precise way of doing things (as long as you measure right ;) ).

No problem :) I have the same problem yesterday with my latest creation. I struggled for some hours to place the sphere at the right place. It's little bit hard for me to orient in 3D space on a 2D platform.

I have drawn in AutoCAD for some years before ending up in IT, and usually thinking 3d in 2d is not so much a problem. But doing things blind, without the nav window... I am not good at all with that! :) Great idea of you to solve this by geometry so simple and elegantly:)
